2015 Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara will be honored at Westport Country Playhouse's annual fundraiser, "Something Wonderful:  A Gala Evening Celebrating Kelli O'Hara," on Monday, September 21. 

Westport Country Playhouse will stage 'And a Nightingale Sang,' a love story surrounding a working-class British family during World War II. Written by C. P. Taylor, and directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director, the play will run June 9 - 27. The title is based on the 1940s popular song, 'And a Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,' which, among other music of the war years, is included in the play.

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) announces 'Galavant In The Garden,' a spring garden party benefiting the theater tonight, May 9, featuring a special preview performance of Tony Award-winning actor Alan Cumming's new one-man show at Dark Hollow Farm, a private Bucks County gentleman's estate.

Pianist Kirill Gerstein will replace Jonathan Biss in the New York Philharmonic's performances of Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, conducted by Susanna Ma?lkki in her New York Philharmonic debut, Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m.; and Saturday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m. Due to an arm injury suffered in a recent accident, Mr. Biss is unable to perform with the New York Philharmonic on the advice of his doctor.

The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2015 with an impressive assembly of classics, cult favorites, and beloved films. The 2015 series will run June 5-August 9 at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) and will feature 29 films over nine weeks (no films scheduled for the week of the Fourth of July).

Susanna Mälkki will make her New York Philharmonic debut conducting Brahms's Variations on a Theme by Haydn; Harvey's Tranquil Abiding; and Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Jonathan Biss as soloist. The concerts take place Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m.; and Saturday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Westport Country Playhouse will host a "2015 Season Kick-off Block Party," on Saturday, April 11, 4 to 7 p.m., offering a fun, party-like atmosphere with food trucks, games and activities, prizes, special ticket offers, and a look at the Playhouse's "backstage experience." Sony Classical is pleased to announce the release of the recording of one of the world's most famous classical music events: the 2015 New Year's Concert with the Vienna Philharmonic. One of the most distinguished conductors of our time, Zubin Mehta, returns to direct the 2015 concert, having already done so four times previously. Dear Bookworks Bookworm, I read a book this month that I had every intention of liking, but didn't. It had a story line that interested me but the characters were one dimensional and flat and the writing that was not worth writing home about. Rather than review a book that disappoints, I decided to review a movie that I had just seen with Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche, Words and Pictures. This is a movie well worth the ticket price. It is always a pleasure seeing a movie where actors do what they should be doing best, acting and where writers are doing what they should be doing best, writing.
