Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the schedule for Lincoln Center's seventh White Light Festival, running from October 16 through November 16, 2016. The international multidisciplinary festival, which takes its name from a quotation by the Estonian composer Arvo Part, is an annual exploration of the power of art to illuminate our interior and communal lives. Although the solstice doesn't officially appear for another week or so, the summer opera clock is already ticking. There's a plethora of performances going on all over New York City, in addition to interesting, entertaining and fascinating productions that are just a hop, skip and jump away. Among them: Lincoln Center's Lincoln Center Festival and Mostly Mozart and On Site Opera's West Village venue, to the more bucolic realms of Bard SummerScape in Dutchess County (NY) for Mascagni and Caramoor in Katonah (NY) for Rossini and Beethoven.

Considered the first opera to portray an openly romantic relationship between two self-affirming women, PATIENCE & SARAH is composed by Paula Kimper with libretto by Wende Persons.  The work is based on the novel of the same title by Isabel Miller. Paula Kimper is conducting with Douglas Moser directing. Chick Corea & Bela Fleck, two master songwriters, musicians, and band leaders meet in a historic duet of piano and banjo on Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30pm.
