The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the selection of four Honorees who will receive the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements, and a special Honors distinction for a work of art and its co-creators. Recipients to be honored at the 41st annual national celebration of the arts are: singer and actress Cher, composer and pianist Philip Glass, Country music entertainer Reba McEntire, and jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter. This year, the co-creators of Hamilton-writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, and music director Alex Lacamoire-will receive a unique Kennedy Center Honors as trailblazing creators of a transformative work that defies category.

Chelsea Marcantel is not an air guitarist. Nor is she a part of an air guitar shredding family. She found the world through a former boyfriend she met in Chicago. "I thought...this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard." The relationship did not work out, however, Marcantel found herself going down a "Youtube Wormhole" of air guitar performances. And after watching the acclaimed documentary Air Guitar Nation, she began writing a play about the world of imaginary soloing.

Mad Rex Restaurant and VR Lounge (1000 Frankford Ave) announces the debut of the 'Hour After Happy Hour' designed to celebrate the hour after the end of the world. The world's first post-apocalypse themed restaurant and virtual reality lounge has fired up a full menu of new dishes and happy hour exclusives designed around Mad Rex's unique theme. New dishes will start at $3 and include Rex Ribs, Chicken Wings (three styles), Grilled Black Rice, Foragers Flatbread, Pig Wings, Chicharron and Lamb Merguez Hot Rock. The Lamb is the newest black rocking dining option - where patrons will fire up their meat on a black lava rock coming out of the oven at 700 degrees and arriving table side at 500 degrees. On the bar side, survivors get ready to raise a glass with drink specials starting at $2 and include the exclusive Mad Rex IPA designed with Blueprint Brewing Company. Other drink specials also include $4 off camel bags that are served on IV racks to allow patron's hand to be free up during their time in the virtual reality lounge. The Public Theater presents the world premiere of Kings, written by Sarah Burgess and directed by Thomas Kail. The world premiere of Fiona Doyle's haunting and provocative new drama The Strange Death of John Doe will be directed by Artistic Director Edward Hall for Hampstead Downstairs. The production is a Hampstead Theatre commission and a finalist for The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. Under 30s can access Priority Booking for all shows via The Downstairs Club - Hampstead's free membership scheme to allow better access to the cheaper seats.
