20-year old pianist Thomas Nickell, an artist with 'an ever-increasing reputation as a player's player and composer' (Litchfield Live, 23 Jul 2017) will perform in solo recital at New York's downtown venue, SubCulture (45 Bleecker Street, Downstairs, New York, NY 10012) today evening, November 15, 2018 at 7:30 pm, presented by Alexander & Buono International. The program, entitled Impromptus and Meditations, will include works by Scriabin, Schubert, Messiaen, and Liszt; Mr. Nickell will also give the premiere of two of his own original compositions.

Jungle Theater Celebrates the Holidays with Premiere of THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY

This holiday season, the Jungle Theater presents THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, a companion to last year's wildly popular Miss Bennet - both continuations of Jane Austen's beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice. Starring Angela Timberman as the adored housekeeper Mrs. Reynolds, the play's action takes place in the cozy warmth of the Pemberley kitchen where the servants are bustling with holiday preparations. Directed by Christina Baldwin, this co-commission, co-world premiere (with Chicago's Northlight Theater and the Bay Area's Marin Theatre Company) runs December 1-30 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, located at 2951 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere production of Familiar written by Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead, Black Panther, Broadway's Eclipsed) and directed by Danya Taymor, who helmed Steppenwolf's powerful 2017 production of Pass Over. As previously announced, this fiercely funny production features ensemble members Celeste M. Cooper (Nyasha) and Ora Jones (Marvelous Chinyaramwira), who appeared together in Steppenwolf's The Doppelganger (an international farce) last season. Rounding out the cast are Cheryl Lynn Bruce (Anne), Erik Hellman (Chris), Lanise Antoine Shelley, (Tendikayi), Luigi Sottile (Brad), Jacqueline Williams (Margaret Munyewa) and Cedric Young (Donald Chinyaramwira).

Offering a dark commentary on attitudes towards relationship taboos and the illicit desires that bond people or break them, this new black comedy is Animals of Farthing Wood meets American Psycho. Claire and Gregg are, on the surface, the archetypal 'normal' couple: met at university, adored by each other's parents, co-owners of a pleasant suburban home and an efficient John Lewis blender. But as fantasy and reality begin to blur it soon becomes apparent that beneath their unassuming exterior they are united by an insatiable and horrific desire: to murder their neighbours' pets.
