There may have been a thunderstorm in the Mother City today, but nobody is gonna rain on The Fugard's parade as FUNNY GIRL celebrates its opening tonight. Having commenced performances on 18 April, The Fugard will welcome the media and special guests from the Cape Town entertainment scene at a special performance of the show this evening.

Urban Stages' Board of Directors and founding artistic director Frances Hill will celebrate 'The Magic of Set and Costume Design' by presenting the 2017 Urban Stages' Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winning legendary set and costume designer Tony Walton presented by Broadway, television and film star Melissa Errico ('Billions', My Fair Lady, High Society, Encores' Do I Hear a Waltz?) at their gala benefit at the Boathouse in Central Park at 6:30PM on May 15, 2017.

MJM Dance, under the artistic direction of Megan J. Minturn, presented their first evening-length piece entitled Monopoly: The Landlord's Game April 13-14, 2017 at the Mark Morris Dance Center. Here, Ms. Minturn in collaboration with her dancers- Leah Antonellis, Michelle Applebaum, Kelli Chapman, Cantata Chen Fan, Anna Johannes, Mara Katz, Chie Kurokawa, and Beverly Lopez, came together to tell the little known history of the game of Monopoly while exposing the injustices of our society and economic system.

TACT continues the 2016 - '17 season with the World Premiere of The Gravedigger's Lullaby, a play that arrives on the Mainstage by way of the company's 2015 newTACTics New Play Festival, where it was workshopped and developed. The Gravedigger's Lullaby opened on Sunday, March 12th, for a strictly limited run through Saturday April 1st at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Pear Theatre continues its season with Arthur Miller's classic, "A View from the Bridge," with timely reminders about the realities of illegal immigration, of jealousy born from fear, and the dangers of acting on self-destructive impulse. "A View from the Bridge," directed by Ray Renati, previews on March 9. The cast and creative team is complete for Objects in the Mirror, a Goodman Theatre-commissioned world premiere by Charles Smith. Directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith, Objects in the Mirror is inspired by the playwright's real-life friendship with a Liberian refugee-turned-actor, Shedrick Yarkpai-portrayed by Daniel Kyri, in his Goodman debut. The production was developed through the 2015 New Stages festival and features a 5-member cast who brings to life the gripping account of one Liberian refugee's attempts to find peace by exposing a potentially dangerous lifelong secret. Objects in the Mirror appears April 29 through June 4 (opening night is May 8) in the Albert Theatre.
