Juilliard's 2013 summer grants supporting innovative summer educational and artistic residencies are going to dance, drama, and music students working abroad and in the United States. The wide ranging projects will take place in Tokyo, Japan;Nairobi, Kenya; the West Bank; and in the United States to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia; Garland, Texas; and Cleveland, Ohio.These residencies are part of Juilliard's extensive outreach program and have been funded by the School since the program began more than twenty years ago (in 1991). Each spring semester, a call for proposals urges students to plan the artistic and administrative elements of unique projects, which in the past have taken Juilliard's young artists around the world - to Brazil, Guatemala, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea, Nigeria, Nova Scotia, Peru, The Philippines, Scotland, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Some, such as Art Powers Arusha in Tanzania (founded in 2009); Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) with projects in New York, India, Florida, Africa, and Ecuador; and Detroit Arts Immersion (founded in 2009) have become continuing programs. These summer residencies deepen the students' understanding of their role and impact as artists, and the projects benefit others, often in underserved areas of the United States and the world. Many are created in conjunction with local organizations and existing programs to better match an area's need. The participants in these projects document their work and share it with the Juilliard community during the School's convocation ceremony in September.

CBS unveiled today its new 2013-2014 schedule, featuring eight new series - five comedies and three dramas - to build on the strength of America's top-rated network. Five of the new series will premiere in the fall and three at mid-season.

Chicago Opera Theater's Chicago Stage Premiere production of Astor Piazzolla's MARÍA DE BUENOS AIRES evokes Argentina's 'Dirty War', the period between 1976 and 1983 when the country was governed by military juntas which controlled the populace through state-sponsored terrorism. This 'tango operita' is of stunning originality, pulsing to the passion and beat of Astor Piazzolla's revolutionary 'nuevo tango' and Horacio Ferrer's mesmerizing, imaginative poetry. Chicago Opera Theater's production is a collaboration with Chicago's Luna Negra Dance Theater at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, and runs for four performances only: tonight, April 20; Wednesday, April 24; Friday, April 26; and Sunday, April 28.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public's 2013-2014 season, continuing the theater's nearly 60 year tradition of producing Shakespeare and the classics, musicals, contemporary and experimental works in equal measure while engaging a wide range of audiences and artists at its six downtown theaters at Astor Place, including Joe's Pub, as well as the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The Public's 58th season will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed Under the Radar Festival and the 15th anniversary of the world-renowned Joe's Pub. Penobscot Theatre wants to go on vacation with YOU! Dream, imagine, and discover at our exciting day camp for ages 5 - 12. During the week of April 15th, students are invited to join us from 9 - 3 to explore various topics relating to theater. Camp is highly flexible as campers are able to sign up for any or all days of our program. Camp will be lead by Director of Education Jasmine Ireland and Resident Teaching Artist Benjamin Layman.

Following the 80th Anniversary Season's record-breaking attendance, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival announces the 2013 Festival schedule today. Jacob's Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, home to America's longest-running dance festival, and a recipient of the National Medal of Arts.

Sundance Institute announced today the films selected to screen in the out-of-competition Premieres and Documentary Premieres sections of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

'Cabaret Emigré' by Sophia Romma, originally scheduled for November 2 to 18, now opens tonight, November 7 and will add performances November 11, 13 and 14 to make up for lost shows due to Hurricane Sandy. This new play, directed by Charles Weldon, is being presented by Negro Ensemble Company at the Lion Theater, Theater Row.

Producer David Youse and Four Things Productions in association with L.A. Works has just announced a celebrity staged reading in celebration of The 25th Anniversary of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias to take place on Monday, 3 December 2012 at 7pm to benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This special one night only event will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theater located at 121 Christopher Street in New York City, where the original production performed. Directed by Judith Ivey and starring Blythe Danner, Annie Potts as M'Lynn, the original Truvy, Margo Martindale as Ouiser, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Shelby and Sarah Stiles as Annelle. Additional cast announced soon! Music for this production has been generously donated by Bonnie Raitt and Pat Boone. With support from the 25th Anniversary Honorary Committee including Olympia Dukakis, Sally Field, Daryl Hannah, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts and sponsored by Lifetime Television, Magnolia Bakery and Veranda Restaurant.
