Espelho Mágico, a new musical celebrating six decades of Brazilian television, will premiere on March 20 at the BTG Pactual Hall in São Paulo. Inspired by the legacy of Rede Globo, Brazil’s largest TV network, the production revisits iconic characters, programs, and songs that shaped the country’s cultural landscape. The story follows a writer tasked with creating a musical about Globo’s history who is guided by the spirit of legendary telenovela author Janete Clair. Blending humor, nostalgia, and nearly forty musical numbers, Espelho Mágico offers a vibrant theatrical tribute to the programs and personalities that defined generations of Brazilian viewers.

Founded in 1968, Honey Cone is like drinking sunshine. The debut of iconic girl group Honey Cone at the famed Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood on Oscars Night was unforgettable magic. Next up on their live tour is Oscar's in Palm Springs on April 11.

The Henry Hewes Design Awards committee announced that legendary lighting designers Jules Fisher and Jennifer Tipton will each be honored with the Ming Cho Lee Award for Lifetime Achievement in Design, bestowed by the Henry Hewes Design Awards at the 58th annual event on October 24 in a livestream awards ceremony.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that dance legend Jacques d'Amboise, father of Tony nominee Charlotte d'Amboise, has passed away, according to ABT's Robert La Fosse. He was 86 years old.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

Everyone loves a little nostalgia, especially when it comes to their favorite television shows and movies growing up. Two theatre greats died in December 2018, both with history at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.  Dancer and teacher Blanche Lund died on December 1, 2018, and composer Galt MacDermot died on December 17, 2018. Because of the holidays the theatre did not have a chance to properly mark the passing of these remarkable people. We will do so now.
