In the second concert of its 51st season, New Amsterdam Singers (NAS) will perform Brahms's popular Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs), along with choral works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Wolf, and recent pieces by contemporary American composers Carol Barnett and Robert S. Starting February 7, 2019, Milagro presents the North American Premiere of Alberto Cañas Escalante's La Segua, with original music by Carlos Escalante Macaya directed by Roy Antonio Arauz. La Segua runs from February 7 to March 2, 2019 in the Milagro Theatre.

The Public Theater announced today a final two-week extension for the North American premiere of GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY.

Indie Memphis Film Festival is pleased to announce the full slate of films for its 2018 incarnation, spanning from November 1st - 5th, 2018. According to a new casting notice, the previously announced musical based on the life and career of pop icon Michael Jackson is gearing up for a New York City lab  next month.

Adam H. Weinert performs Jacob's Pillow founder Ted Shawn's epic work Dance of the Ages, the first evening-length modern dance work ever presented, in celebration of the work's 80th anniversary. This exclusive engagement transforms the Pillow's campus to reflect the original performance as first experienced in 1938, featuring use of the Pillow's original barn studio, now known as the Bakalar Studio, traditional production components, and an authentic pre-performance Tea Garden lecture.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces Writer-Director Communications Lab on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10am-6pm at Studios 353, 353 W. 48th Street, Studio B (basement). Registration is $75 for TRU members ($85 for non-members), $30 for an additional collaborator (writer), and registration for TRU Member observers is $30 ($40 for non-members). Writers must be accepted before purchasing a spot.

Theater for the New City's award-winning Street Theater Company will open its 42nd annual tour August 4 with 'SHAME! Or The Doomsday Machine,' a rip-roaring musical in which the Theory of Relativity explains modern politics. Free performances will tour closed-off streets, parks and playgrounds throughout the five boroughs until September 16. Book, lyrics and direction are by Crystal Field; the musical score is composed and arranged by Joseph Vernon Banks. (Schedule follows at bottom of this document.)

According to a casting notice, the previously announced Michael Jackson musical that is eying a future Broadway bow will hold a developmental lab this fall. The lab will be held September 24 - October 21, 2018.

The Theatre Group at SBCC will start the season July 11-28, 2018 in the Garvin Theatre with the musical, GREASE.  Book, lyrics and music by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

London's Dirty Water Records, together along Metronomo Management (Lisbon), Peer Music and Alter-K Records (Paris) and in cooperation with Sony Music/Jive Epic, are pleased to announce the US and UK album release of 'Misfit' by European blues-punk sensation, The Legendary Tigerman (A.K.A. Paulo Furtado). 'Misfit' will be released on Dirty Water Records in the US and UK territories on August 24th, 2018 and will feature limited edition white coloured 12' vinyl coupled with four exclusive and unreleased bonus tracks entitled 'Misfit Ballads EP'.

The King of Pop might soon find a place on Broadway. According to Entertainment Weekly, The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage have confirmed plans for a Broadway-bound Michael Jackson musical. The project will feature a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage, and will be directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon.
