Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) is proud to present the Los Angeles premiere of the play Monsieur Ibrahim et les fleurs du Coran (Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran) written and performed by famous Franco-Belgian novelist Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, on May 6, 2018 at 7:30pm.

Often described as an off-Broadway (or off-off Broadway) version of Encores!, Musicals Tonight! presents its 100th and final production, CALAMITY JANE: A MUSICAL WESTERN, at the Lion Theater. Currently in its 20th season, the series received a Village Voice Obie award and grant in 2004. Unlike other revivals which substantially alter old musicals to appeal to modern audiences, Mel Miller's brainchild and labor of love allows a new generation to enjoy the lesser-known works of Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, and the Gerswhins, among others, in their original form. Full disclosure: I have no use for Westerns in any genre (including literature) and find Oklahoma impossibly hokey and tedious. (I do like 'O What a Beautiful Morning.') The characters and plot of this by-comparison unknown musical are to me far more interesting than Oklahoma! Don't buy a ticket to CALMITY JANE: A MUSICAL WESTERN because it's the final installment of Musicals Tonight!. Buy a ticket because it's a worthy musical skillfully rendered by a strong cast.  

The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm.  Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.

Previews begin this Friday, March 16 for the Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) world premiere production of THIS FLAT EARTH, a new play by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone, the current Amy and the Orphans).  Directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman (Familiar, Stage Kiss, Milk Like Sugar at Playwrights; Indecent), the play is the fourth production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.  

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) this week kicks off the 60th anniversary celebration of its prestigious Gold & Platinum Program, the industry's premier award for recognizing artistic achievement in the music marketplace.

REPRISE 2.0 is now announced, presenting a season of three classic American musicals at UCLA's Freud Playhouse, by Marcia Seligson, Producing Artistic Director of the new performing arts organization.  REPRISE 2.0 is partnering with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT), chaired by Brian Kite. 

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) and the Santa Rosa Symphony announced the lineup for the 2018-19 Symphony Pops Series, to be presented in the Ruth Finley Person Theater at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa). Now in its 14th year, the Sunday afternoon concert series introduces audiences to the great depth and range of sounds of the Santa Rosa Symphony and acclaimed soloists, through the music of legendary Motown artists, dynamic divas, and tributes to pop sensations.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today 11 of the 12 productions slated for 2018 NYMF. Among the shows announced in the lineup are the Next Link Project selections, as well as the first of two invited productions. Now in its fifteenth year, the 2018 Festival will take place July 9th through August 5th at locations on West 42nd Street in New York City. Dan Markley serves as NYMF Executive Director and Rachel Sussman serves as Producing Artistic Director.

Schimmel Center presents two performances by acclaimed fado artists-Ricardo Ribeiro on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Lula Pena on Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.-as part of the New York Fado Festival. 

Playwrights' Arena, the only theater created and dedicated to producing bold new works for the stage written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights, will be celebrating its 26th Anniversary with their annual fundraising gala, HOT NIGHT IN THE CITY. Symphonie Fantastique - the singular creation by designer, director, master puppeteer, and MacArthur "Genius" Basil Twist - returns to its original home at HERE in a 20th anniversary production for 12 weeks only, March 29-June 17. Set to Hector Berlioz's revolutionary 1830 score, Symphonie Fantastique, for the first time in New York, features live piano accompaniment by Christopher O'Riley. Hailed as a creative masterpiece when it debuted in 1998, the production is set to open on April 4 and a presentation from HERE's Dream Music Puppetry Program and a centerpiece of HERE's 25th anniversary season.

Porchlight Music Theatre announces Merrily We Roll Along, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, with direction by Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Director Michael Weber, associate direction and musical staging by Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Associate Christopher Pazdernik and music direction by Aaron Benham has been extended through March 17 at Porchlght's home, the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street. Merrily We Roll Along is based on the play by the same name written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. 

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 16th annual summer residency there, performing six orchestral concerts July 20-27, 2018.

Renowned Broadway, West End and film actress Caroline O'Connor will star as Anna in the first London revival in 20 years of Kander and Ebb's THE RINK, having understudied the role of Angel in the 1988 London production of the show. The new production of THE RINK will play at Southwark Playhouse for a limited season from 25 May to 23 June 2018, with a national press night on Tuesday 29 May. The role of Angel, along with further casting is to be announced.

Due to popular demand, YouTube sensation Katie Goodman's Broad Comedywill return to the SoHo Playhouse (sohoplayhouse.com) beginning January 29, 2018. The internationally-touring riotous, ridiculous, and in-your-face all-women troupe, Broad Comedy, stars Danielle Cohn, Molly Kelleher, Tana Sirois, Carlita Victoria and Katie Goodman. Celebrating France's rich tradition as a pioneer of animation, the French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, is thrilled to launch Animation First, the first-ever French animation festival in the United States, which will take place Friday, February 2 through Sunday, February 4.
