The award-winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) will bring the juke box to life when they open the 2015 Season with their all new production of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, opening Wednesday, June 3 and playing through Sunday, June 21.  Press night is scheduled for Friday, June 5 at 8:00 p.m.

On Monday, May 4, Theater People podcast welcomes 'The First Lady of British Musical Theater,' Olivier Award-winner Elaine Paige. For the episode, Paige discusses her farewell tour, and what exactly she means by 'farewell.' She also talks about the upcoming theatrical release of her recent concert which was filmed at Royal Albert Hall in London. Paige, perhaps best know for originating the roles of Eva Peron in EVITA and Grizabella in CATS, shares her remembrances of how those roles came to her and how they changed her life and career. Paige made her Broadway debut in 1995 as Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's SUNSET BOULEVARD Sunset Boulevard. She returned to Broadway in the critically acclaimed and Tony award winning 2012 revival of FOLLIES. In the role of Carlotta Campion, Paige received terrific notices for her performance of the showstopping song 'I'm Still Here.'

The original 'princess posse' of last fall's sold-out, NY premiere limited engagement of DISENCHANTED! is making the transfer to Westside Theatre Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street) for an open-ended run. DISENCHANTED! began previews at Westside Theatre Upstairs on March 19, 2015, with an Opening Night slated for tonight, April 7, 2015.

Kate Baldwin and Conor Ryan, the stars of the Keen Company production of John & Jen, the musical with music by Andrew Lippa, lyrics byTom Greenwald, and a book by Greenwald and Lippa, just headed to the recording studio to preserve the 2015 Off-Broadway Cast Recording for Broadway Records. A June 16th release is planned. Andrew Lippa and Michael Croiter will produce the album. Musical Director is Lily Lang. This recording will include the premiere of the new song, 'Trouble with Men,' as well as new orchestrations and two songs from the score never before recorded. Joanna Murray-Smith's Switzerland -- already extended one week -- will extend yet another eight performances by popular demand with a final closing date of April 26, 2015. A world premiere with the Sydney Theatre Company, Switzerland is a Los Angeles Times Arts Editors' "Essential Arts and Culture" Pick and features Laura Linney (Broadway World said she is "pure gold") and Seth Numrich (called "outstanding" by the Los Angeles Times).

This co-world premiere with Sydney Theatre Company will be directed by Mark Brokaw (Broadway: Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, The Lyons) in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse now through April 19, 2015. Opening night is tonight, March 13.

One of the world's leading contemporary dance companies, The Lyon Opera Ballet is renowned for its vast repertory of work by emerging and established choreographers. The company has acquired and commissioned ballets by a wide range of international dance makers including Jirí Kylían, Nils Christe, Nacho Duato, Trisha Brown, Ralph Lemon, and Bill T. Jones, among others. Anna Kisselgoff of The New York Times hailed Lyon Opera Ballet as “a company full of surprises,” marked by “impressive individuality [and] versatile dancers.” The company returns to Meany Hall with a mixed program: William Forsythe's Steptext (a quartet set to J.S. Bach), Sunshine by Emanuel Gat and Sarabande by Benjamin Millipied.

Last night at the 13th Annual Craig Noel Awards in San Diego, CA, Fiasco Theater's critically acclaimed production of Into the Woods won the Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Touring Production. The ceremony was held at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in La Jolla, CA.

This production will star Kate Baldwin (Big Fish, Finian's Rainbow) and Conor Ryan (Cinderella, The Fortress of Solitude) in the title roles.
