Wendy Williams began her Broadway debut engagement as Matron 'Mama' Morton in the Tony Award-winning musical smash Chicago last week on Friday, June 28. Williams, who was originally set to begin performances at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.) on Tuesday, June 25, was sidelined with a sinus infection earlier last week. Wendy Williams is set to make her Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago, joining the long-running musical in the role of Cook County Jail's 'keeper of the keys'- Matron 'Mama' Morton. Her 7-week run will begin on June 25th and wrap up on August 11.
Currently, actress and Sirius/XM radio host Christine Pedi takes on the iconic role where she joins Chicago cast members Amy Spanger as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly,Adam Pascal as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and R.
