The first West End production of Chess since 1986 stars Michael Ball as Anatoly, Alexandra Burke as Svetlana, Murray Head as The Arbiter, Tim Howar as Freddie, Cassidy Janson as Florence and Philip Browne as Molokov. This epic musical love story will open at the London Coliseum on Thursday 26 April 2018 (Press night on Tuesday 1 May 2018) for a strictly limited 5 week season.

Gallery Players announces the final show of its 51st season, the timely classic, Chess. It is an epic story set at the height of the Cold War, where two great chess masters-an American and a Russian-meet in Bangkok to battle for the world championship... but their greatest contest is for the love of one woman.

Lin-Manuel Miranda surprised the standing-room-only crowd at the Kennedy Center's Broadway Center Stage production of his Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights on Saturday night. He was joined in the audience byHamilton and In the Heights music director Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton and In the Heights percussionist Andres Forero, andHamilton and In the Heights star Javier Muñoz. At the end of the performance, Lacamoire led the on stage orchestra in the show's finale with Forero joining on percussion. Miranda then joined the cast for their final bow.

Lakewood Theatre Company will begin its 66th season with six productions on its Mainstage and three productions on its Side Door stage beginning July 6, 2018.  

With the juggernaut that is Hamilton playing DC this summer, it was probably a good marketing strategy for the Kennedy Center to use its new Broadway Center Stage series to (re)-introduce local audiences to Lin-Manuel Miranda's first Broadway musical, the Tony Award-winning In the Heights. Avid local theatergoers have likely seen the show before and fairly recently at that. Last season, Olney Theater Center and Round House Theatre co-produced a well-received production and GALA Hispanic Theatre presented the U.S. Spanish language premiere. However, the five-night, sold out run at Kennedy Center offers another look at the show - this time with an Encores-like staging featuring some of Broadway's best talent directed by original cast member Stephanie Klemons.

On March 19, 2018, Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre honored legendary Broadway composer John Kander with the company's ninth Stephen Sondheim Award. The Stephen Sondheim Award was presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy and will benefit Signature Theatre's artistic, education, and community programs.

Sloan Foundation (Doron Weber, Vice-President, Programs) announced today the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of BUMP, written by Chiara Atik (Five Times in One Night) and directed by Claudia Weill(Girlfriends). Part of the EST/Sloan Science & Technology Project (Graeme Gillis, Program Director; Linsay Firman, Associate Director), BUMP begins previews at EST's Curt Dempster Theatre (549 W. 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019) on May 9, 2018, with an opening night set for May 17, for a limited run through June 4, 2018.

Porchlight Music Theatre's Mainstage 2017-2018 season concludes with Memphis, April 19 - June 3, at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street. Memphis, book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by David Bryan, is directed by Daryl D.  Brooks, assistant directed and choreographed by Christopher Carter, music directed by Jermaine Hill and assistant choreographed by Reneisha Jenkins. 

Raul Esparza Cast As Lead On New NBC Drama SUSPICION

Anthony Ramos, who originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton, will play Usnavi in the Broadway Center Stage production of In the Heights at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Joshua Grosso, previously announced in the role, has withdrawn from the musical due to a minor foot injury. Presented as a part of the inaugural season of Broadway Center Stage, a Kennedy Center-produced series of musicals in semi-staged concerts, In the Heights will run March 21-25, 2018 in the Eisenhower Theater.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, announces the Midwest premiere of The Cake by Bekah Brunstetter, directed by Lauren Shouse, and featuring RTE Founders Tara Mallen and Keith Kupferer, RTE Member Krystel McNeil, with Tuckie White.

Florida Studio Theatre concludes its 44th Winter Mainstage season with the world premiere production of Honor Killing by Sarah Bierstock, a challenging and provocative new play that tackles timely themes like cultural division and women's issues. Porchlight Music Theatre announced that Lorenzo Rush Jr has replaced James Earl Jones II in Porchlight Revisits They're Playing Our Song, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and book by Neil Simon, with direction and choreography by Christopher Carter and musical direction by Andra Velis Simon. Porchlight Revisits They're Playing our Song is presented for three-nights-only Tuesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 8 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's Merrily We Roll Along (previews begin January 26) at Porchlight's new home, The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Producer Paul Panico, along with Panic! Productions are pleased to announce the first musical production of 2018. The multi-award and Pulitzer Prize winning "NEXT TO NORMAL" by Brian Yorkey, with music by Tom Kitt. They have also cast award-winning actress Michelle Lane, for the lead role of "Diane." Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, the nation's preeminent arts summer day camp, today announced its new Choreographic Institute, an innovative new program launching in Summer 2018. Elaine Paige and Alexandra Burke announced on their Twitters that they will be teaming up to announce the 2018 Olivier nominations on Tuesday, March 6. The announcement will be made live on Facebook at 1pm.
