Over the years, Broadway has seen a number of family acts sharing the stage. It’s extra special when family members team up to write a Broadway show together. The Great White Way has seen many instances of this historically, in a variety of different situations. While last week’s column focused on spouses penning shows together, this week is all about blood relatives partnering to write work.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Broadway opening of Weill's One Touch of Venus. Ted Chapin hosts a stellar cast featuring Melissa Errico, Brent Barrett, Judy Blazer, and Ron Raines, plus winners of the international Lotte Lenya Competition.

Disney songwriter Robert B. Sherman died yesterday, March 5, in London. The Academy and Grammy Award winner, who is honoured along with his brother Richard Sherman with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was 86. Robert A. Iger, President and CEO, The Walt Disney Company released the following statement on his passing:

Tommy Tune has been announced as the 2011 recipient of the Helen Hayes Tribute Award. He will be honored at the 27th Helen Hayes Awards on April 25, at the Warner Theatre on Monday.

On May 17, 2010 Versatile Broadway performer John Bolton, Tony award-winning actor Jim Dale, renown musical conductor Aaron Gandy and Tony Walton, Jennifer Evans, Kevin Cahoon, Jessica Grove, Noah Racey and Annika Boras partook in The Theatre Museum's 2010 Awards Ceremony. The Awards Gala, which took place at the New York Players Club, was directed by Tony Walton. Aaron Gandy served as Musical Director.

Richard M. Sherman and George Stiles' Mary Poppins interview is now online

The American Theatre Wing and XM Satellite Radio are presenting an interview with composers Richard M. Sherman (Disney's The Jungle Book, The Parent Trap, Bedknobs and Broomsticks) and George Stiles (Moll Flanders, Tom Jones, The Three Musketeers) on XM's On Broadway's weekly theatrical interview show, 'Downstage Center' (XM Channel 28).

JAY Records has scheduled to record the Original Cast Album of Busker Alley on Tuesday November 14 in NYC, following the Concert performance.
