On Monday, the historic Emerson Colonial Theatre teased that they would be making their next pre-Broadway production announcement later this week. The teaser video posted on their social media channels indicates that the show will be a revival of a comedy, and will feature a pair of stars that haven't been seen on stage together for more than 20 years. The Colonial's video also references that the play was written by one of the most prolific playwrights of the 20th Century. Check out the video here.

HBO Documentary Films has acquired U.S. TV rights to THE COLD BLUE from Paul G. Allen's Vulcan Productions. Directed by Erik Nelson (“Dreams with Sharp Teeth,” “A Gray State”), the film takes an inside look at the daily life of men of the Eighth Air Force, who flew mission after deadly mission in World War II. The film features newly restored 4K footage and outtakes, shot by director William Wyler (Oscar® winner for “The Best Years of Our Lives,” “Ben-Hur” and “Mrs. Miniver”) for his 1944 documentary “The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress.”

The filming of Young Wallander has just begun - the new Netflix original series based on Henning Mankell's best-selling Kurt Wallander novels. The cast includes Adam Pålsson (Kurt Wallander), Richard Dillane (Superintendent Hemberg), Leanne Best (Frida Rask), Ellise Chappell (Mona) and Yasen Atour (Reza). The series is created by Yellow Bird UK, a Banijay Group company, and the producer of the Swedish Wallander franchise at TV4 as well as the successful BBC series Wallander from 2008.

Wyler and his crew flew actual combat missions on B-17s in extremely dangerous conditions. Incredibly, the entirety of the raw color footage Wyler and his team shot for the documentary 'The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress' was recently discovered in the vaults of the National Archives. After a meticulous frame-by-frame restoration, director Erik Nelson ('Dreams with Sharp Teeth,' 'A Gray State') has constructed a compelling new documentary out of the material.

The season includes four plays and one musical, all being produced for the first time in DC, as well as the triumphant return of a recent Theater J hit. From an intoxicating new musical set in Tel Aviv based on the Song of Songs to the late-career masterpiece by multiple Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee, Theater J's season celebrates journeys of every kind with a provocative and ambitious slate of plays. BAM's popular, interactive arts showcase Teknopolis returns for its fourth year with an ambitious new program designed to inspire creativity, connect with the future, and embolden a renewed sense of play for all ages. Teknopolis offers the latest in technology-fueled art and participatory environments. It features work by leading artists and technologists who are pushing the artistic boundaries of VR, AR, mixed reality (MR), 360° films, and sensor-based technology and displays, and whose work sits at the crossroads of art, film, music, and technology. This year, the three-week-long showcase includes 20 highly interactive installations and six 360° films with artists from 12 different countries, presenting their work over five levels of the BAM Fisher building, from February 22 to March 8. Many of the exhibitions allow participants to interact with the installations directly.

Not only did this Korean original musical production have continuous sold-out shows, but it also maintained an average of 98% of audience attendance rate throughout the entire run. The grand ending of their success resulted in receiving three awards, including Best Musical in the 2nd Annual Korea Musical Awards. So, it was no surprise that the show has come back for a second run this year.

Adding to the silent film era theme, the event will take place at Bandrika Studios, a space custom-built to showcase Hollywood's original 1,500 pipe Wurlitzer organ. The pipe organ dates back to 1928 when it resided on the Fox lot and was used in classic scores including Journey to the Center of the Earth and Patton.
