This elite distinction marks a career filled with versatility, longevity, and extraordinary talent across multiple mediums. What does it all mean? We're taking a closer look at the artists who have managed to join one of the industry’s most exclusive clubs.

The new musical Goddess can currently be seen in its New York premiere production at the Public Theater on Lafayette Street. Directed by the Public’s associate artistic director and resident director Saheem Ali, who is currently Tony Award-nominated for directing Buena Vista Social Club, Goddess is playing at the Public’s largest space by capacity, the Newman Theatre.

Vincent Victoria is a playwright, director, filmmaker, actor, and fashion icon who has been producing work in the Houston Community for at least the last ten years, probably more. He has written scripts for his theatrical and film company that strive to bring historical figures of the black community alive in plays and movies.

Tony Award-winner Jonathan Groff. brings show business legend Bobby Darin to thrilling life in the new Broadway spectacle, JUST IN TIME, opening tonight at Circle in the Square Theatre.

Remember the advertising slogan, 'The Gift That Keeps on Giving'?  It originated in the 1920's to promote the newly invented phonograph by the Victor Talking Machine Company. It was so effective that RCA Victor resurrected it in 1963 as a Christmas season advertisement.  Well, in the spirit of 'I wish I had thought of that,' I am borrowing the slogan in reference to the Origins New Works Program by Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre.  Origins truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

Richard Chamberlain, renowned for his roles in 'The Thorn Birds' and 'Shogun,' has died at 90. Chamberlain, celebrated for his versatility in film, theater, and television, passed away on March 29th, 2025, in Waimanalo, HI, following a stroke. His career spanned decades, earning him numerous accolades, including Golden Globes for his performances.

Some of the shows that the Orpheum has been best known for are Stomp, which ran there for an astounding 29 years, from 1994 to 2023, and the original production of Little Shop of Horrors which spent over five years at the theater from 1982 to 1987. 

The first major London revival of Mel Brooks’ musical adaptation of The Producers is now open at the Menier Chocolate Factory, directed by Tony Award-winning Patrick Marber and Broadway choreographer Lorin Latarro.

The Musical Catch Me if You Can : The musical adaptation of the classic film directed by Steven Spielberg, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks and garnered widespread acclaim. In Japan, it was performed in 2022, starring Hikaru Iwamoto, and directed by Ikko Ueda. The stylish choreography and memorable singing received garnered great praise. Following its original run, Hikaru reprises his role as the genius con artist Frank, showcasing his impressive singing, dancing, and acting skills. Eisaku Yoshida, a mainstay of Japanese television and film, continues in his role as the FBI agent Hanratty, who is determined to catch Frank.

The story takes place in one night on April 3, 1968 when 'an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis after delivering one of his most memorable speeches.'

Steven Bogart's play Made in Heaven won the grand prize in the 7th annual Risk Theatre Modern Tragedy Competition. Finalists include works by David Davila, Michael Mobley, Rebecca Osborne, Philip Spensley, and Nathan Wagner.

What did our critic think of FUNNY GIRL at BROADWAY AT THE HOBBY CENTER?

When you can hear a room audibly smile, then you know you are in the presence of Glenn Rosenblum. He’s charming, clever, witty, playfully spills the Tea, shows off his encyclopedic knowledge regarding all things Broadway, and displays his utmost respect for this genre of entertainment. 

This play did the most powerful thing that a play can do. It showed us a picture of the truth. The joyous, horrific, wondrous, terrifying, painful truth.

On a rainy New York evening it was all sunshine, joy and music at 1 Vanderbilt Avenue, where the 20th floor, location of TD Bank’s Conference Center, had been transformed for the 20th anniversary celebration of Jazz Power Initiative, an organization founded by two friends: writer/educator Clifford Carlson, and jazz musician/educator Dr. Eli Yamin.  

Incredible, never-before-seen footage of John Lennon and Yoko Ono Lennon, filmed in July 1968 at John’s first major art show You Are Here (To Yoko From John Lennon, With Love) at London’s Robert Fraser Gallery, has been paired together with the brand new Ultimate Mix of “You Are Here,” from his 1973 album Mind Games, for a fascinating new video that offers a rare glimpse into the Lennon’s lives. I was so excited to interview Jimmy Moore, the Producing Artistic Director of the San Pedro Playhouse. He and his team specifically scheduled The Boys in the Band to coincide with pride month to celebrate the experiences of the gay community, and he was excited to let me know that the show  is about to become an official pride month event in San Antonio!

Originally released on Absolutely Free in 1967, the track shows off the quick wit and crooning style of the wonderful singer Ray Collins. The song, played in the first of the three sets that night, was written as a parody of the days when Zappa played the Calif. bar circuit in the early ‘60s. This release follows a previously unreleased version of “The Duke,” which at the time of the Whisky ’68 recording was a brand new composition. Listen to the song now!
