This July, 40 of the nation's most prominent and promising writers, directors, and composers will be in residence at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in a new laboratory for collaboration. Today, the renowned nonprofit announced 13 selections for the inaugural summer lab at The Ground Floor, Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work. During an intense four-week period, dozens of artists will live, dine, create, and collaborate at the Theatre's new campus in West Berkeley.

Shows Developed At Berkeley Rep Receive Outer Critics Circle Awards

Today, with the announcement of its annual awards, the Outer Critics Circle recognized two shows developed at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Carrie Fisher won the award for Outstanding Solo Performance with Wishful Drinking, and Kevin Adams of American Idiot was honored for Outstanding Lighting Design. The Outer Critics Circle - the official organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications, and other media beyond Broadway - has given awards since 1950.

Hamingson) will extend the world premiere of IDIOT SAVANT, written and directed by Richard Foreman, through Sunday, December 20. Presented in association with Ontological-Hysteric Theater, IDIOT SAVANT began previews October 27 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, December 13.
