The Segal Centre will close its blockbuster 2014-2015 Theatre Season with The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical, a world premiere musical adaptation of Mordecai Richler's novel and the feature film by the same name, from June 7-28, 2015. This new production boasts an original musical score by Alan Menken, the legendary Oscar and Tony winning composer of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, with book and lyrics by acclaimed lyricist-librettist David Spencerand direction by American theatre veteran Austin Pendleton. Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man, the hit comedy written by Matt Murphy, based on the best-selling book by Dan Anderson and Maggie Berman, has announced that comedian and YouTube star Michael Buckley ("What The Buck?") and television and stage actress Anneliese van der Pol ("That's So Raven", Beauty and the Beast) will join the cast this summer as Dan and Robyn, for two weeks only - July 2-4 and 9-11 - at The 777 Theatre (777 Eighth Avenue, between 47th and 48th Streets). Buckley, making his Off-Broadway debut in Sex Tips, will also perform in the show's upcoming week-long run at The Provincetown Theater from August 3 - 8.

It was announced today that Judy Blazer will join the cast of the Tony Award winning Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, in the role of Miss Shingle.  She will begin performances on Tuesday, June 30.  Carole Shelley, who currently fills the role, will play her final performance on Sunday, June 28.

The awards show will take place tonight, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh and will include a celebration of 25 years of this extraordinary program, which began in 1991 and has inspired over 30 programs of its kind across the country.

OKLAHOMA! opens on Friday, July 17th , 2015, playing until Sunday, July 26th , and features an added mid-week matinee on July 22nd , at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

The Muny announced today its complete cast for Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and James Lapine's (book) Into The Woods, playing July 21-27. The production will be directed by Gary Griffin, choreographed by Chris Bailey and music directed by Brad Haak.

EVITA opens this evening, April 25th at 8pm and runs through Sunday, May 17th, 2015.

What a renaissance - again! Although the period beginning with THE LITTLE MERMAID in 1989 through to the doubleheader of POCAHANTAS in 1995 and THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME in 1996 and ending with MULAN in 1997 is considered by House Of Mouse superfans and many entertainment enthusiasts as the official Disney Renaissance era - meaning the company once again came to major prominence as a direct result of its animated musicals - it very much looks as if an entirely new type of Disney rebirth is in the process of occurring, spurred on by the worldwide success of the esteemed company's most successful animated feature to date, the highly theatrical and Broadway pedigreed FROZEN. Of course, in any way matching an era which in addition to MERMAID, POCAHANTAS, HUNCHBACK and MULAN shepherded BEAUTY & THE BEAST, ALADDIN and THE LION KING from inspiration to actuality would be a high order, if not outright impossible, yet it seems that the recent, current and upcoming spate of ingenuously timed and expertly devised projects that Disney possesses at the moment could put them in that stratospheric level of uber entity once again in the industry - and in the hearts and minds of millions around the world, as well.

ALL FOR ONE THEATER and GORGEOUS ENTERTAINMENT will offer a special presentation of GHOSTLIGHT 9: A MUSICAL GHOST STORY for three performances only, April 22, 28 and May 3. GHOSTLIGHT 9 is performed by All For One's Artistic Director Michael Wolk - who also provides book, music and lyrics - and directed by Aaron Mark. Mr. Wolk accompanies himself on guitar. GHOSTLIGHT 9, a charmingly spooky tale inspired by the ghost that famously haunts the New Amsterdam Theater, will take place at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street in Manhattan) to coincide with ALL FOR ONE THEATER production of the New York premieres of 8 STOPS and MAJOR TOM. The show was developed in All For One's SoloLab in 2014, and it received a workshop presentation in January 2015 at The Wild Project.

Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.
