WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Washington Ballet is pleased to announce a special performance of Septime Webre's The Nutcracker on Thursday, December 17 at 7PM, featuring the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft will take the stage during Act II to perform Frontiersman, choreographed by The Washington Ballet's Artistic Director, Septime Webre.

Original cast member Megan Fairchild will return to the acclaimed Broadway revival of On The Town for one final turn as Ivy Smith on Sunday night. Misty Copeland will perform the Sunday matinee.

Los Angeles is in for a treat next month! Tony and Grammy-winner Audra McDonald comes to the Hollywood Bowl to sing classics from Broadway and the American Songbook with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the direction of Bramwell Tovey, Tuesday and Thursday, September 1 and 3, at 8 pm. Audiences on both nights will be entertained by McDonald singing famous tunes by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Mancini and Mercer, and others. The evenings also feature gifted American Ballet Theatre dancers on stage to bring Bernstein's Fancy Free to life performing Jerome Robbins' 1944 choreography.

The Joffrey Ballet recently made waves by announcing their commission of a brand-new, Chicago-inspired production of The Nutcracker. Choreographed by the buzzy Christopher Wheeldon, this new work will celebrate The Joffrey's hometown of Chicago by setting the story at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. While many were excited by the prospect of a new work from this prominent choreographer, others questioned the move. The Joffrey already has a Nutcracker, so what isn't broken? A new homegrown Nutcracker allows The Joffrey to distinguish its production from the heap of other holiday entertainment options, gives a patron a new reason to return to a familiar story, and appeals to hometown pride.

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Linda Shelton Executive Director, proudly presents the U.S. debut of Le Centre National de Danse Contemporaine-Angers (CNDC) from March 10 - 15. For this highly anticipated debut, CNDC, under the artistic direction of former Merce Cunningham dancer and prote?ge? The Washington Ballet (TWB) is proud to announce the next performances in its recently launched series, theNEWmovement: rising stars of The Washington Ballet Studio Company. The shows feature TWB's Studio Company, an aspirant dancer group poised to become the dance stars of the future. Also featured, are members of the Washington School of Ballet's Trainee Program, Professional Track Program and the Washington Ballet @THEARC Performance Ensemble. Many current company artists of The Washington Ballet began their careers as members of Studio Company including Maki Onuki, Corey Landolt, Andile Ndlovu, Aurora Dickie among others. Many others have also moved on to dance in ballet companies throughout the world.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington School of Ballet teachers and students competed against hundreds of participants in the regionals of the world's largest international student dance competition held in Pittsburg, February 13-15. TWSB won 'Best School', an honor reflecting numerous individual competition winners. The distinction is one that TWSB has received in past years at regionals. The school's Director, Kee Juan Han, won 'Outstanding Teacher'- an honor awarded to an instructor whose students show excellent training and consistent quality in execution. The mission of The Washington Ballet includes growing the next generation of dancers through its school, The Washington School of Ballet. “We're proud of the accomplishments of our students and we are honored to have received this recognition at YAGP regionals,” says Managing Director, Arthur Espinoza, Jr.

Orange County, Calif.-Jan. 9, 2015-Composer, conductor and teacher Leonard Bernstein, one of the undeniable giants of 20th-century music, and the first American-born conductor to become a major star, becomes the focal point of Pacific Symphony's second "Music Unwound" concert this season, "For the Love of Bernstein." In 1985, a young Carl St.Clair met Bernstein as a conducting fellow at Tanglewood Music Center. A few years later in 1990, St.Clair stepped in for the ailing Maestro and conducted his "Arias and Barcarolles" during what turned out to be Bernstein's last concert. St.Clair would soon be named music director of Pacific Symphony, but the impact of Bernstein's mentoring to St.Clair has remained to this day.
