The Washington Ballet (TWB) presents Aladdin, an original adaptation of the 'Arabian Nights' tale about the adventures of a poor yet carefree street urchin named Aladdin who falls in love with a Princess, discovers a magic lamp and escapes the villainous plans of an evil magician who vies to overtake the throne. Aladdin features original choreography by CeCe Farha, instructor at The Washington School of Ballet and founding company member of Ballet Oklahoma, along with Arabic and classical musical arrangements from Cairo Arabic Music Ensemble, Praha Philharmonic Orchestra,
Cirque de Soleil and others.

The Washington Ballet (TWB) has added the Finale of George Balanchine's 1947 masterpiece Theme and Variations to its 40th Anniversary Celebration. The work is set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and will provide a grand conclusion to a festive evening of performance and video excerpts that celebrate the 40 year history of The Washington Ballet dance company. The special one-night only production features works by Choo San Goh, Septime Webre as well as other favorites from TWB repertoire on September 30, 2016, 8PM at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. Narrated by Julie Kent, the production includes an emotional and inspirational look back at the people and creative works that have come to define TWB throughout its 40 year history.

Artistic Director Julie Kent is pleased to announce that Monica Stephenson joined the faculty at The Washington Ballet's southeast campus TWB@THEARC effective September 1. The move reaffirms TWB's commitment to continuing the growth and excellence of education and community engagement programs in the greater Washington community. Stephenson previously coordinated American Ballet Theatre's Project Plie, an initiative to increase diversity in classical ballet and was a member of ABT's education staff.
