The Washington Ballet Announces Upcoming NEWMOVEMENT Performances

The Washington Ballet (TWB) is proud to announce the next performances in its recently launched series, theNEWmovement: rising stars of The Washington Ballet Studio Company. The shows feature TWB's Studio Company, an aspirant dancer group poised to become the dance stars of the future. Also featured, are members of the Washington School of Ballet's Trainee Program, Professional Track Program and the Washington Ballet @THEARC Performance Ensemble. Many current company artists of The Washington Ballet began their careers as members of Studio Company including Maki Onuki, Corey Landolt, Andile Ndlovu, Aurora Dickie among others. Many others have also moved on to dance in ballet companies throughout the world.

PERFORMANCES

WHEN: Saturday, March 7 at 7PM
WHERE: The England Studio at The Washington Ballet, 3515 Wisconsin Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20016
Cost: $15
This one-hour program of breathtaking dance and dizzying creativity will feature the work of Septime Webre, Mimmo Miccolis and Ballet Masters Elaine Kudo and Luis R. Torres, Jr. Selections included in the performance are taken from The Sleeping Beauty, White, Peter Pan and ALICE (in wonderland) - and feature musical scores from Tchaikovsky and Matthew Pierce.

Cost: $15 (includes performance and reception)
This one-hour program of funky, fancy and energetic choreography will feature music by Jay-Z, "musical explorer" Debruit and scores taken from classics including Peter Pan, The Nutcracker, ALICE (in wonderland), Swan Lake and Giselle. This program features the work of Septime Webre, Mimmo Miccolis, Margaret Giragosian Williamson, Darlisa Wajid-Ali, Shawna Williams, Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot.

About The Washington Ballet @ THEARC Performance Ensemble

The Washington Ballet @ THEARC Performance Ensemble is an auditioned group of dancers that performs throughout the greater DC community. This vibrant group is made up of young men and women and highlights the diverse talent of The Washington Ballet's SE campus with performances at such prestigious venues as The White House with the President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in attendance, The Library of Congress, the National Mall and more. The group performs classical ballet, jazz, modern and street jazz selections by numerous accomplished guest artists under the direction of Director of TWB@THEARC Katrina Toews.
