THE WOMEN IN BLACK Haunts Seattle Rep This Month

Over eight million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most successful theatrical horror events ever staged - and it's coming to shock Seattle next month. In the village of Crythin Gifford, the wind howls across the moors and fog creeps mysteriously around the town spires. At the edge of the village's cemetery, young lawyer Arthur Kipps glimpses the figure of a woman, garbed all in black, and is drawn into Crythin's cursed and haunted history. Susan Hill's gothic ghost story, The Woman In Black, comes to spine- tingling life in this cunning stage adaptation by Stephen Mallatratt that has left London's West End theatre-goers enthralled for more than 30 years. Director Robin Herford recreates Mallatratt's original staging from the London West End for this American premiere of the West End Production, touring the U.S. for the first time.

CSC Adds Performances To The Run Of William Wharton's BIRDY

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) has added three performances to its highly anticipated upcoming production of Birdy, adapted by Naomi Wallace from the novel by William Wharton, and directed by Steven Maler. The production now runs February 27 through March 17 at the Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley.

The evening will celebrate Tony Award-winning playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein; Chairman & CEO of the John Gore Organization and Tony Award-winning producer and acclaimed director John Gore; International President of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and International labor leader and community advocate Matthew D. Loeb; and Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award-winning actress, singer and dancer Rita Moreno and present to them The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor.

Over eight million people have already lived to tell the tale of one of the most successful - and terrifying - theatre events ever staged,and Chicagoans are no exception. THE WOMAN IN BLACK- London's long-running West End play - has only three weeks left in its Chicago run before the production makes its way to the Seattle Repertory Theatre at the end of February. Complete with all the stage thrills that have led audiences in London to shriek in fear for 30 years, this chilling performance is one that has illuminated the mainstage at the Royal George Theatre after a dark period of nearly three years and will continue to do so until its final Chicago performance on February 17.

Sundance Film Festival Announces Juries, Awards Night Host

Sundance Institute will gather 20 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with 12 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 2 that will be livestreamed at sundance.org and on YouTube. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 29 and will also be livestreamed. The Festival takes place January 24 through February 3 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.
