Annette Bening is back on Broadway! The award-winning actress has been away from the Great White Way for over 30 years, but she is now back, starring in All My Sons at the American Airlines Theatre.

As I'm going through all my Gypsy CDs (yes, to ensure I have them all either on my hard drive or accessible in the cloud, before throwing them out), I'm finding myself weirdly most drawn to Tyne Daly's recording, from her Tony-winning performance in the 1989 revival. The thing is I know Tyne Daly, I mean I know her work. She's been a familiar and distinctive presence on stage and screen for as long as I can remember and I even have a few musical theater recordings featuring her singing, but hers is not a singing voice I live with on a LITERALLY daily basis like, say, Ethel Merman's, Angela Lansbury's, Bette Midler's, Bernadette Peters's or Patti LuPone's. So to me, Tyne Daly's Rose is a unique sound that I can only identify with Tyne Daly's Rose and, therefore, a character. For today, that's the Gypsy I most feel like listening to.

Susan Hill's gothic ghost story, The Woman In Black, comes to spine- tingling life in this cunning stage adaptation by Stephen Mallatratt that has left London's West End theatre-goers enthralled for more than 30 years. Director Robin Herford recreates Mallatratt's original staging from the London West End for this American premiere of the West End Production, touring the U.S. for the first time. 

PEN America presents the 2019 PEN World Voices Festival: Open Secrets (May 6-12), focusing on the dissolving boundary between the public and the private in the literary, cultural, social, and political realms.  A flowering of the genres of literary memoir and personal testimony has been accompanied by increased digital avenues for story-telling, revelation, and expose before both designated and public audiences.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) has added three performances to its highly anticipated upcoming production of Birdy, adapted by Naomi Wallace from the novel by William Wharton, and directed by Steven Maler. The production now runs February 27 through March 17 at the Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced the company and design team for the new Broadway production of Arthur Miller's All My Sons starring Golden Globe winner and Academy, Tony & Emmy nominee Annette Bening as 'Kate Keller' and SAG Award nominee & Tony Award winner Tracy Letts as 'Joe Keller,' directed by Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien. Joining Bening and Letts are Benjamin Walker as 'Chris Keller,' Francesca Carpanini as 'Ann Deever,' Hampton Fluker as 'George Deever,' Michael Hayden as 'Dr. Jim Bayliss,' Jenni Barber as 'Lydia Lubey,' Nehal Joshi as 'Frank Lubey,' Chinasa Ogbuagu as 'Sue Bayliss.'

Producer Ken Davenport (Once on This Island, Spring Awakening) has obtained the Broadway stage rights to the life story of the great American singer, songwriter, actor and activist, Harry Belafonte.

Complete with all the stage thrills that have led audiences in London to shriek in fear for 30 years, this chilling performance is one that has illuminated the mainstage at the Royal George Theatre after a dark period of nearly three years and will continue to do so until its final Chicago performance on February 17. 

Matthew Lopez's epic two-part drama The Inheritance was the big winner at the 2018 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards held today (29 January 2019) at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London's West End, hosted by Critics' Circle Drama Section Chairman Mark Shenton.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon announced today the full cast and creative team for award-winning Bay Area playwright Lauren Yee's The Great Leap, performing at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater (415 Geary St., San Francisco) March 6-31, 2019.

On a night known for loud screams, heightened anticipation and thrilling performances by some of the nation's most talented athletes, THE WOMAN IN BLACK is inviting guests to wear their favorite NFL team's jersey to receive tickets for just $39 at the door on Sunday, February 3 at 2:30 p.m. Guests are also encouraged to let their scream fill the theatre in an exclusive contest judged by the cast just following the performance. Sundance Institute will gather 20 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with 12 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 2 that will be livestreamed at sundance.org and on YouTube. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 29 and will also be livestreamed. The Festival takes place January 24 through February 3 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.

Mark Shenton will hand over the reins, after nine years at the helm of the Drama Section, to incoming Chairman Henry Hitchings, Chief Theatre Critic of the London Evening Standard The Critics' Circle Theatre Awards 2018 will take place at 1.00pm on Tuesday 29 January 2019 at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London's West End, hosted for a final year by outgoing Critics' Circle Drama Section Chairman Mark Shenton, with regular guest speaker Arthur Smith introducing the prestigious awards in much-loved tradition.

Equality, inclusion and joy permeated the performances at this year's poignant and record-breaking Red Bucket Follies. The show celebrated six weeks of enthusiastic fundraising by 67 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring shows for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Six weeks of fundraising will culminate in an extravaganza of Broadway stars, extraordinary ensembles and one-of-a-kind performances at Red Bucket Follies at 4:30 pm on Monday, December 3, and at 2 pm on Tuesday, December 4. The show is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The York Theatre Company presents the world premiere of the new musical comedy Christmas in Hell with book, music, and lyrics by Gary Apple ("The Simpsons"), with direction and choreography by Bill Castellino (Desperate Measures, York/New World Stages) and music direction, music supervision, and arrangements by Logan Medland (National Tours of Cats and Crazy for You).
