Oregon Ballet Theatre announced last night during Pink Martini's concert at the Oregon Zoo that Nicolo Fonte's world premiere in the upcoming OBT 25 program will feature Portland's favorite "little orchestra" sharing the stage with the dancers in the first ever full-scale collaboration between the two groups. The ballet, titled Everywhere, was inspired by Fonte's eagerness to create an unforgettable experience for the audience that will reveal new facets of both groups and the performers in them. In celebration of the Ballet's 25th Anniversary Season, this entirely new creation will feature China Forbes, who has been the lead singer for the band since its inception. Opening Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Keller Auditorium, OBT 25 will continue for five performances through October 18.

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run September 13 - September 27. Opening night is Sunday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. Single tickets go on sale on Friday, August 8 at noon.

Today, word comes of an additional appearance that has been cancelled, on August 4th in Provincetown, where the star was set to perform with Alan Cumming in a sold-out evening. Instead, Cumming will perform his solo show, accompanied by Emmy Award winning composer/pianist Lance Horne.
