The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, will honor legendary Oscar and Tony Award winner Joel Grey with the 25th Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre at 2016 Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala to be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at The Asia Society (725 Park Avenue).

Since their inception in 2009, the Platform series, Danspace Project's signature curatorial initiative, has 'given dance presentation a makeover.' (The New York Times). Conceived by Danspace Project Executive Director and Chief Curator Judy Hussie-Taylor as exhibitions that unfold over time, Platforms are multi-week series of performances and events, organized by guest curators, that act as deep inquiries into artistic practice and concerns. Ten Platforms have been held to date, each accompanied by a print catalogue.

Abingdon Theatre Company will present two world-premiere plays and a new musical in the June Havoc Theatre as part of its 2016-2017 Season of new works by established and emerging writers, marking the first full season programmed by Artistic Director Tony Speciale.

The 1990 Tony Award for Best Revival awarded to producer Barry Brown for Gypsy sold last night for $26,798 at Nate D. Sanders Auctions. The musical Gypsy, with lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim, premiered in 1959. The play was critically acclaimed and is considered by many critics to be the greatest musical of all-time.

Now, Valley Performing Arts Center will kick-off the new season and its Broadway series on September 30 at 8:00pm with a one night only concert performance of Dear World, starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly in the role of Countess Aurelia.

The New York Philharmonic has announced the 2016-17 season's Insights at the Atrium series, free events exploring themes of the Philharmonic's concert season through multimedia lectures, conversations, and panel discussions. Expanding to eight events this season, Insights at the Atrium has gained in popularity since its inception in 2011, helping thousands of audience members delve more deeply into the music, musicians, and ideas featured in the Philharmonic's season through a dynamic and accessible forum. Tome Cousin is an interdisciplinary artist who has molded an award winning international career that includes collaboration and performance on Broadway, television, film, dance, theater, music, photography, and literature. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Dance History and Choreography and a Masters of Fine Art in New Media Art and Performance. He is an Associate Professor of Dance at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama.

Initial casting is announced today (26 May 2016) for Qdos Entertainment's London Palladium production of Cinderella.  The 32 strong cast will be led byPaul O'Grady as The Wicked Stepmother, Julian Clary as Dandini, Lee Mead as Prince Charming, Paul Zerdin as Buttons, Nigel Havers as Lord Chamberlain and Count Arthur Strong as Baron Hardup.  The roles of Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother and the Ugly Sisters will be announced soon.
