Review: CABARET at Downtown Cabaret Theatre
by Sean Fallon - Apr 22, 2023

On Friday, April 21st, I had the pleasure of seeing CABARET at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT.  This highly thought provoking play has book by Joe Masteroff, and songs written by John Kander with lyrics by Frank Ebb.  Even though it was written in 1966, it addresses concepts that are relevant in the modern day, like how we may be unaware of the serious injustices going on across the world, until they directly impact us or someone we know. It also shows how people who believe that politics is irrelevant to their own personal lives do not become immune to the consequences of the wrong people rising to power.  Most importantly, it shows the lethal results of a society that rejects moral absolutes and lets the shifting sands of feelings and emotionally manipulative propaganda define its sense of reality, right, and wrong.

Review: Outstanding Performances Highlight MTSU Theatre's All-Too-Brief Run of Kander and Ebb's Timeless CABARET
by Jeffrey Ellis - Apr 9, 2023

To be certain, Cabaret (in every iteration I have ever seen), represents the awesome power of live theater to challenge preconceived notions while creating a world audiences can only visit when in the thrall of a talented cast of actors inspired to indulge in fantasy while maintaining an earthbound realism that illuminates the human condition at any possible time in human history.

Review: ANNA IN THE TROPICS at Ground Floor Theatre
by Sabrina Wallace - Aug 25, 2022

What did our critic think of ANNA IN THE TROPICS at Ground Floor Theatre? Enter the Ground Floor Theatre and be transported to a much simpler time, 1929 Florida. Cigars are rolled by hand, families work the craft together, and workers are entertained by the sound of a “lector” - a reader. Can you smell the thick and sweet aroma of the Cuban cigars, yet?

by A.A. Cristi - Mar 31, 2022

Harvey c*cks Jr. has taken his final bow and left the stage. Harvey may not have been “born in a trunk,” as the saying goes, but as the scion of a theatrical family, he did sleep in one as a baby.  He was born April 3, 1925 in Glen Cove, Long Island.

BWW Review: CABARET at Fairfield Center Stage
by Sean Fallon - Sep 16, 2019

I had the pleasure of seeing CABARET as put on by Fairfield Center Stage, at the Trevi Lounge in Fairfield, CT.  Fairfield Center Stage has yet again put on a well known production in a brilliantly unique way that audiences would not get to experience anywhere else.  Fairfield Center Stage gets the perfect cast for the roles, and furthermore finds the perfect venue for each production, to provide the ambiance appropriate to the show.  The Trevi Lounge creates a wonderful intimate atmosphere for the cabaret show within the CABARET show.
