The unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort, made her a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock. 50 years after the Summer of Love, McCarter audiences will rediscover the sights, sounds, and soul of an unforgettable era with A Night with Janis Joplin, October 10 29 in McCarter's Matthews Theatre.

Following on her acclaimed, Tony-nominated performance in Fun Home, Sydney Lucas is tackling her next musical role as a teenage girl with severe autism. Indigo is a musical exploration of how one family attempts to break through autism's challenging veil and in the process, learns how to listen to one another.

The award-winning musical, A SCYTHE OF TIME, was the darling of the New York Musical Festival in 2016 and will get a concert presentation starring original cast Lesli Margherita (Broadway: Matilda. West End: Zoro, Olivier Award) and PJ Griffith (Sleep No More, American Idiot) on Thursday, October 26 at 9:30pm at 54 Below (254 W 54 Street).

59E59 Theaters will launch the first show of Prospect Theater Company's three-year residency with the NYC premiere of THE MAD ONES, a new musical featuring book, music & lyrics by Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk (Henry and Mudge) and directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Seller).

Milwaukee Repertory Theater is pleased to announce the 2017/18 Professional Training Institute (PTI) ensemble, an advanced actor training program for students in 8th-12th grade who may have an interest in pursuing a career as a professional theater artist.   The 2017/18 PTI ensemble includes Elliott Brotherhood, Juliana Garcia-Malacara-Flynn, Lindsay Gleason, Durran Goodwin Jr., Kamani Graham, Meguire Hennes, Nathan Kabara, Maricella Kessenich, Logan Muñoz, Bradley Nowacek, Reese Parish, Dominic Schiro, Payton Elizabeth Stovall, Kenyon Terrell, Saleaqua Winston, and Mainyia Xiong.  These sixteen students hailing from fourteen different high schools will receive free training from some of the top theater professionals in the world, culminating in a capstone summer performance where they will be employed as paid, professional actors.

Producers Lorne Michaels and Stuart Thompson have announced casting for the world premiere of the Broadway-bound new musical Mean Girls with a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the Paramount Pictures film; music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) Free For All, one of the capital's most beloved annual traditions offering free performances of a Shakespearean classic to the general public each summer, will return next month with the Company's 2016 production of William Shakespeare's Othello. Helmed by internationally acclaimed director Ron Daniels and starring screen actor Faran Tahir in the titular role, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St. NW) from August 15-27, offering more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.
