Yellow Peril is pleased to announce 'Movies That Charmed,' a month-long film series presented by Emile Doll, founder of Queer History Cinema, featuring underrepresented visions outside mainstream portrayals of queer desire and love. The screenings will be hosted on Saturdays in April at Yellow Peril, beginning with 'Personal Best' (1982) on April 7 from 7:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. This screening series complements the current exhibit, 'Charmed,' curated by Kyle Quinn of Raw Meat Collective, which explores the sexual desire and intimacy by queer artists of color. Featured films selected for 'Movies That Charmed' include: 'Personal Best' (1986). Directed by Robert Towne and starring Mariel Hemingway and Patrice Donnelly. 'Personal Best' follows the relationship between two Olympic hopefuls who are led to choose between their increasing attraction and their goals of achieving the highest honor in their field. In English. Screening April 7. 'I Don't Want to Sleep Alone' (2006). Directed by Tsai Ming Liang and starring Lee Kang-Sheng, Norman Atun, and Cheng Shiang-chyi. Three vastly different people's stories merge into one romantic relationship in the city of Kuala Lumpur. In Taiwanese, Malay, Mandarin, and Bengali with English subtitles. Screening April 14. 'Army of Lovers or Revolt of the Perverts' (1979). Directed by Rosa Von Praunheim. Following the immediate years after Stonewall, this documentary shows the early queer-rights movement in 1970's San Francisco. In English and German with subtitles. Screening April 21. 'Fire' (1996). Directed by Deepa Mehta and starring Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. Two women, trapped in miserable heterosexual marriages, are pulled together by love and attraction despite enormous outside pressures trying to keep them apart. In Hindi and English with English subtitles. Screening April 28. 'Desire' has a number of different meanings, with a similar root. One can desire another, while one can also desire a goal or feeling. These films all show different iterations of desire and want, from sexual desire to the desire for respect,' notes Doll, on why he selected these films. 'Each film shows characters that want something deeply, and the extent to which they will go to achieve what they want.' Doll plans to extend the reach of Queer Cinema History to a larger audience throughout the year during special events held in Rhode Island, such as PVDfest and Pride. The first screening for 'Movies That Charmed' is 'Personal Best' (1986), which will be on Saturday, April 7, from 7:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. This is Queer Cinema History's first collaboration with Yellow Peril. The NYTB REP program with a World Premiere by Richard Alston has now added encore performances of three of Jerome Robbins' rarely seen ballets: Septet, Concertino and Rondo, recently performed in sold-out shows in The Harkness Dance Festival 2018 at 92Y. The program will feature live music for all works.

The Jewish Museum presents Marc Camille Chaimowicz: YOUR PLACE OR MINE..., the London-based artist's first solo museum exhibition in the United States. This large-scale survey presents Chaimowicz's work in painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, installation, furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles, and wallpaper made between 1978 and 2018, including never before exhibited pieces and three new commissions. The exhibition is on view from March 16 through August 5, 2018.

The Keir Choreographic Award is Australia's first major choreographic award presented by the Keir Foundation, Carriageworks and Dancehouse with the Australia Council. The Keir Choreographic Award is a national biennial award dedicated to commissioning short works and promoting innovative, experimental and cross-artform practices in contemporary dance. The award invites Australian professional artists with an established practice to propose a choreographic idea for an original live performance of no more than 20 minutes.

On Sunday, March 11, Hospicare and Kitchen Theatre Company are pleased to offer a special event: a reception and panel discussion on 'Lesbian Love & Loss over the Lifetime.' The reception will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a 4:00 performance of Bright Half Life by Tanya Barfield. After the performance, panelists Kate Halliday, Mariette Geldenhuys, Sue Robinson, and Carrie Stearns will moderate a discussion in the theatre.

This spring, Candoco Dance Company will present the London premiere of Face In from multi-award-winning and internationally recognised choreographer Yasmeen Godder. Face In was originally commissioned by Stine Nilsen and Pedro Machado who recently stepped down as Artistic Co-Directors of Candoco.

The Old Globe's 2017 2018 Season continues with today's announcement of the complete cast and creative team for Anton Chekhov's masterpiece Uncle Vanya, which has received a Globe-commissioned world premiere translation from Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, andLarissa Volokhonsky. Richard Nelson (Illyria, The Gabriel Plays, Tony Award winner for Best Book of a Musical for James Joyce's The Dead) also directs. Uncle Vanya will run February 10 March 11, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run February 10 14. Opening night is Thursday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m.

Formed in 2006, the Felice Brothers are a Hudson Valley, New York-based folk rock ensemble hailed by the AV Club for a sound at once timeless, yet tossed-off. The band started husking in the subways, and went from playing subway stations and Brooklyn Apartments to high-profile gigs, such as Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble in Woodstock, and festivals, including: Mountain Jam, Clearwater Festival, Bonnaroo, Philadelphia Folk Festival and the All Points West Music & Arts Festival.

BRIC presents Reenactment, a group exhibition examining and agitating the aesthetics and politics of historical reenactment in contemporary art (January 18-February 25). In traditional reenactments, events like the American Revolution and Civil War are embodied by amateur performers using storytelling and props, all too often approaching history as unchangeable and absolute.

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra presents 'Fire and Light' with Norwegian trumpet virtuoso Tine Thing Helseth on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 7pm in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The concert is the finale of a national tour of the program, and marks Helseth's debut on the Carnegie Hall main stage, performing as featured soloist in two concertos: Albinoni's Concerto Op. 9, No. 2 and Bach's Trumpet Concerto in D major (after Vivaldi), BWV 972.
