Bill Hanney's award winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) is set to make its own kind of music with BEEHIVE The '60s Musical, the ultimate celebration of 1960's female empowerment. Performances begin Wednesday, May 31 and plays thru Sunday, June 18, 2017. Press night is scheduled for Friday, June 2 at 8p.m.

With the help of artists from throughout American Conservatory Theater's (A.C.T.) celebrated 50-year history-as well as current Master of Fine Arts Program (M.F.A.) and Young Conservatory (YC) students-A.C.T. raised over $1.2 million at its 2017 Season Gala, which took place on Thursday, April 27 at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater and Costume Shop Theater. The proceeds from the Gala support A.C.T.'s actor training and arts education programs.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary Summer of Love in San Francisco-coinciding with A.C.T.'s 50th anniversary-American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will close out its 2016-17 season with Broadway's critically acclaimed musical A Night with Janis Joplin (June 7-July 2, 2017).

Paper Mill Playhouse, recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced casting for the hit Broadway musical Mary Poppins based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film with original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Acclaimed Portland-based rock band Blitzen Trapper will make their foray into the world of theater with Wild and Reckless, a new concert event written and performed by the band that will have its world premiere at The Armory. The band has already recorded a limited-edition LP soundtrack for Wild and Reckless that will be available exclusively at performances. Entertainment Weekly premiered the song "Love Live On," which can be heard HERE. Co-directed by The Armory's Associate Artistic Director Rose Riordan and Production Manager Liam Kaas-Lentz, Wild and Reckless will run on the U.S. Bank Main Stage for 28 performances. Preview performances begin March 16; the opening night/press night is March 24; and regular performances run through April 30. The band will be joined on stage by New York-based actor Laura Carbonell (originally from Portland), making her debut at The Armory, and Portland-favorite Leif Norby.

Casting is complete for the Mountain Play's production of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which will enchant the San Francisco Bay Area this May. Beauty and the Beast will take place every Sunday fromMay 21 to June 18, 2017. www.MountainPlay.org

The Pasadena Playhouse (Danny Feldman, Producing Artistic Director and Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director Emeritus) announced today that they will present THE ORIGINALIST and HOLD THESE TRUTHS as part of the theater's 2016-2017 Season. THE ORIGINALIST, by John Strand (Charles MacArthur Award-winning Lovers and Executioners), directed by Molly Smith (Camp David and Artistic Director of Arena Stage), and starring four-time Helen Hayes Award-winner Edward Gero (Goodman Theatre's Red), tells the story about a liberal law student's nerve-wracking clerkship with Justice Antonin Scalia.

Rubicon Theatre Company celebrates Black History Month with THE DEVIL'S MUSIC: THE LIFE AND BLUES OF BESSIE SMITH, starring singer and actress Miche Braden of the original Off-Broadway production (named one of the 10 Best Off-Broadway productions of the year by the N.Y. Daily Times). Described by CBC as a, "bawdy, bluesy, boozy rollicking night out at the theatre," the show follows the life, loves and career of blues and jazz singer Bessie Smith, called the "Empress of the Blues."

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for a role with relatively little screen-time in MANCHESTER BY THE SEA. As Randi Chandler, wife of protagonist Lee Chandler - played by Casey Affleck - she was able to make a strong impression displaying the couple's complex relationship with just a handful of scenes.
