The League of Professional Theatre Women an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, will present an Oral History Project event with the legendary, five-time Tony Award-winning actress, Angela Lansbury on Thursday, November 14 starting at 6pm in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Admission to the event is FREE and seats are available on a first-come-first-seated basis. Doors will open at 5:30pm. 

The 32nd Annual Virginia Film Festival will feature a deep and diverse program of more than 150 films, including some of the hottest titles on the festival circuit today, and an array of special guests from throughout the industry, and from across the globe. This year's lineup includes award-winning actor, writer, and director Ethan Hawke, noted actor Ann Dowd, international bestselling author John Grisham, actor Dennis Christopher, acclaimed filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu - plus more than 100 filmmakers in all.

Shondaland and Netflix today announced Notes on Love, a new original episodic anthology series under Shonda Rhimes' overall deal.

The STRAY CATS--Brian Setzer (guitar, vocals), Lee Rocker (bass, vocals) and Slim Jim Phantom (drums, vocals)--came back strong this year with red-hot shows and the critically acclaimed 40. It's their first new album in 26 years and one celebrating the iconic American rock and roll trio's 40th anniversary. Issued by Surfdog Records and distributed by BMG (CD, vinyl, digital), the album spun off four singles: 'Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me),' 'Rock It Off,' 'Cry Danger' and the latest, 'Desperado,' described by the Washington Post as an 'instrumental that could have been plucked from one of Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns' (5/21/19).

The renaming of the theatre was dedicated to Stephen Sondheim, the greatest and best known artist in American musical theatre on his 80th birthday. 

MBnb is pleased to present Tee Corinne: Bodies of Work, an evolving presentation of materials relating to the extensive practice of Tee Corinne organized by artist and curator Jenni Crain. The exhibition will be on view from August 11th through September 15th, 2019.

Totem Pole Playhouse, America's summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA has announced the final production in the Playhouse's new summer subscription series, Wrong Turn at Lungfish by legendary writer/director, Garry Marshall and acclaimed screenwriter, Lowell Ganz.

Bay Street Theater and Guild Hall, in association with Jamie Cesa and Bel Chiasso Entertainment present a free concert staged reading of The Romeo & Juliet Project, a new musical, featuring the music of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, with book by Bradley Bredeweg. This FREE community event will be held in Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor, NY on August 16 and 17 at 7 pm and is the latest installment of Bay Street's ongoing Under the Stars Community Outreach Program. The performance is directed by Scott Schwartz, Bay Street Theater's Artistic Director.

On Saturday, August 10, from 6-10 p.m., VP Records, the world's largest reggae music company, will celebrate its 40th anniversary at Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the cast and creative team for the American premiere of The Great Wave written by Francis Turnly and directed by Mark Wing-Davey.

Diane Fletcher and Rachel Pickup, will lead the cast in Tom Littler's production of Somerset Maugham's For Services Rendered, the opening play of Jermyn Street Theatre's Memories Season. Diane Fletcher, who plays Charlotte Ardsley, is best known for creating the role of Elizabeth Urquhart opposite Ian Richardson in the BBC series House of Cards. Her career includes leading roles at The National Theatre, The RSC, The Royal Court and on the West End stage as well as numerous television and film appearances. Rachel Pickup will play Eva. Her career encompasses roles in the West End, the RSC, On Broadway and Off Broadway, leading roles on film and television as well as many regional theatres throughout the UK and in the US. Her stage highlights include: The Merchant of Venice at The Globe Theatre and Stephen Unwin's production of Miss Julie at The Rose Theatre Kingston for which she was nominated for the Best Actress Critics' Circle Award.

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, now in its 41st season, presents Compagnie Herve KOUBI's astonishingly kinetic evening-length signature work, What the Day Owes to the Night, Saturday, July 27. The event, which takes place at the Prospect Park Bandshell (9thSt. & Prospect Park West) is free to the public (with a suggested $5 contribution at the gate) and begins at 8:00pm (with gates opening at 7:00pm). 

Jacob's Pillow presents the highly-anticipated world premiere of THE DAY, featuring world renowned cellist Maya Beiser and legendary dancer Wendy Whelan with choreography by the groundbreaking postmodern dance artist Lucinda Childs and music by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lang in the Doris Duke Theatre, July 31-Aug 4. Co-commissioned by Jacob's Pillow, the multidisciplinary work explores memory, life's journey, resilience, and survival of the soul through the shared language of music and dance.

Exploring the themes of desire, frustration and hope, Somerset Maugham's sharply observed 1932 Chekhovian masterpiece, For Services Rendered launches Jermyn Street Theatre's Memories Season this September. This is the play's first London revival since it was seen at the Old Vic in 1993, and the National Theatre in 1979.

SiriusXM announced today that the iconic and acclaimed American rock and roll trio, The Stray Cats, will perform an intimate invitation-only show for SiriusXM subscribers on Friday, August 2 near the band's hometown of Massapequa, New York on Long Island, where they first formed in 1979. This performance--which will kick-start their much-anticipated 40th anniversary U.S. tour--marks the first time the trio will take the stage at Revolution Bar & Grill for a show after unsuccessfully auditioning at the venue 40 years ago.

Park International Center for Music (Park ICM) announced today that their 2019-2020 Season would kick off in September with a special performance on stage in Helzberg Hall. New York City Gay Men's Chorus today announced that Gavin Thrasher will be their new Artistic Director starting in September 2019 bringing with him a wealth of expertise having served as the Interim Artistic Director of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA), leading their youth programming, and founding their a capella group, Aftershock. Thrasher succeeds Dr. Charles Beale who will step down later this summer after twelve successful seasons to pursue other artistic endeavors. Thrasher was selected after an international executive search process guided by Arts Consulting Group.

The Specials were joined in Brooklyn on Friday night by some very special guests. Some teachers and parents from  Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Artist and activist Manuel Oliver, whose 17 year old son Joaquin was one of the 17 students murdered in the mass shooting last year, gave an impassioned speech to the crowd at Brooklyn Steel.  The band incorporated the Instrument of Hope, a trumpet crafted of bullet casings by survivors of the school shooting, into their sold out performance. The band flew Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students Sawyer Garrity and Andrea Pena, the writers of Shine, and their parents to Brooklyn to attend the concert and meet with the band prior to the show.
