The Auditorium Theatre  announces another season of exciting, diverse programming which supports its commitment to presenting the finest performances in international and local dance, along with America's most cherished music, to Chicago. Highlights of the Auditorium's 2016-17 season include Cole Porter 125 - A Birthday Celebration, featuring Chicago singers and musicians; Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater in their "Made in Chicago" Dance Series debut;  the return of Eifman Ballet's Red Giselle; and a new, innovative ballet by Dance Theatre of Harlem's Francesca Harper.

This summer marks another historic milestone for the annual Bard SummerScape festival. For the first time since its founding, this season's focus is on the music and culture of Italy, with seven weeks of music, opera,theater, dance, film, and cabaret keyed to the theme of the 27th Bard Music Festival, "Puccini and His World." This intensive examination of the life and times of Giacomo Puccini opens a window onto Italy's rich musical heritage from Palestrina to Menotti, by way of the most popular and successful - yet, paradoxically, frequently critically underrated - opera composer of all time. Complementing the music festival, some of the Tuscan master's most compelling compatriots provide other key SummerScape highlights. These include a rare, fully staged production of Iris, a forerunner of Madama Butterfly by Puccini's close contemporary Pietro Mascagni; the world premiere of Demolishing Everything with Amazing Speed, four newly unearthed puppet plays from leading Italian Futurist Fortunato Depero, as reimagined by Dan Hurlin;the world premiere of Fantasque, a new ballet set to the music of Respighi and Rossini by John Heginbotham and Amy Trompetter; a film series on "Puccini and the Operatic Impulse in Cinema"; and the return of Bard's authentic and sensationally popularSpiegeltent,hosted by the inimitable Mx. Justin Vivian Bond. Taking place between July 1 and August 14 in the Frank Gehry-designed Richard B. 2016 marks the 125th anniversary of Oscar Wilde's only novel and now THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY has been freshly adapted by Merlin Holland, Wilde's only grandson, and John O'Connor of European Arts Company. The production will play Trafalgar Studios, 14 Whitehall, London, SW1A 2DY from Monday 18th January to Saturday 13th February 2016. Press Night is slated for tonight 20th January, 7pm.

Underground Railway Theater are proud to present the Danai Gurira's The Convert January 28 - February 28, 2016. The Convert is directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian. The press performance is Monday, February 1 at 7:30PM.

In creating a theater piece about Mata Hari, the Dutch-born actress Eva Dorrepaal (www.evadorrepaal.com) found that she shared one quality with the infamous World War I-era spy:  an addiction to dangerous love.  The truth is, you could probably find more similarities if you dig farther, but this is the idea behind her solo show, 'Almost Mata Hari - Lovers, Letters and Killers,' whose premiere run will be presented by Theater for the New City January 7 to 24.

 In their fortieth anniversary season, the Toronto Irish Players present their first production of a work by the witty Oscar Wilde: the 1895 comedic gem, An Ideal Husband.

Following a 43 date UK Tour and sell out run at St James Theatre, European Arts Company have announced that The Trials of Oscar Wilde is transferring to Trafalgar Studios for a strictly limited four week run. The production will open on Monday 13th October, in celebration of Oscar Wilde's 160th birthday that same week, and will run until Saturday 8th November. Press Night is scheduled for Tuesday 14th October at 7.00pm. A special Birthday Gala performance will take place on Thursday 16th October at 7.45pm (Oscar's Birthday) with further details to be announced soon.

SummerWorks Performance Festival returns for its 24th year August 7 -17, 2014. This year's season is sure to thrill with exciting changes, a crop of new works and moments of intensity, self-discovery and much more waiting to be discovered. In the first program, Mr. Haitink will conduct Webern's Im Sommerwind, Berg's Violin Concerto with Leonidas Kavakos, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, Eroica, tonight, May 8, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 9 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m. Bernard Haitink's appearances are part of an international, season-wide celebration of the 60th anniversary of his conducting debut with the Netherlands Radio Union Orchestra (now the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra) and his 85th birthday.
