Writers Theatre presents The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, adapted by Wendy Kesselman and directed by Kimberly Senior. The show runs February 24 - June 28, 2015 at Books on Vernon, 664 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe. The Press Openings are Wednesday, March 4, and Thursday, March 5, 2015.

Well known Scottish TV actor Gregor Fisher will be playing Yer Granny, in the National Theatre of Scotland's new gallus comedy of the same name which tours Scotland in 2015. Also announced as joining the cast are Brian Pettifer, (recently seen in BBC TV's The Musketeers), Barbara Rafferty, (Rab C Nesbitt) and Louise McCarthy (London West End's Mamma Mia!) They will join Jonathan Watson, Paul Riley and Maureen Beattie, also known to audiences for their popular stage, screen and comedy performances.

Executive Producer Jerry Gunn today announces full casting for the company's production of Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. Sally Cookson returns to theatre to direct Sharon D Clarke (Nurse), Matt Costain (Paris/Prince), Chris Bianchi (Friar Lawrence/ Montague), Audrey Brisson (Juliet), Joseph Drake (Romeo), Laura Elphinstone (Mercutio), Felix Hayes (Tybalt) and Javier Marzan (Peter). The production opens on 4 March, with previews from 28 February, and runs until 14 March.

Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent.

The 2015 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting today announced its judging panel ahead of this year's official launch on 29 January 2015, which will also mark the Prize's 10th anniversary. The New York Philharmonic's 2014 holiday season presents classic masterpieces and seasonal favorites, the return of a former Philharmonic principal and debuts, and continuing and new traditions. This year's schedule includes the annual Holiday Brass concert, this time with former Principal Trumpet Philip Smith returning to host and conduct the complete New York Philharmonic Brass and Percussion sections; Handel's Messiah, led by Baroque specialist Gary Thor Wedow; the first-annual Holidays with the Philharmonic, led by Constantine Kitsopoulos and featuring a carol sing-along and The Night Before Christmas, narrated by Academy Award winner and New York Philharmonic Board Member Whoopi Goldberg (December 19) and humorist, journalist, and actor Mo Rocca (December 20), both in their Philharmonic debuts; and New Year's Eve: A Gershwin Celebration led by Bramwell Tovey and featuring vocalists Dianne Reeves, in her Philharmonic debut, and Norm Lewis, returning after his debut in the Philharmonic's production of Show Boat. The New Year's Eve concert will be telecast live nationally on Live From Lincoln Center on PBS stations.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Stackner Cabaret once again welcomes the glittering costumes and chandeliers of Liberace!. Brilliant local musician and performer Jack Forbes Wilson will reprise his triumphant portrayal of Liberace, the man who defined four decades of music and pop culture, after an acclaimed world premiere production which ran during The Rep's 2010/11 Season. This loving tribute to Liberace is written and directed by Rep Associate Artistic Director Brent Hazelton, with original music direction and composition by Jack Forbes Wilson. Liberace! runs in The Rep's Stackner Cabaret from November 7, 2014 - January 11, 2015 and opens Sunday, November 9.

Just in time to get a jump on the Holidays, Centenary Stage Company will present Ken Waldman, Alaska's Fiddling Poet: Portrait of an Artist as Santa Claus as part of the Kutz Theatre Series. Waldman brings a show that is one part Appalachian - string band concert, one - part riveting storytelling, one - part poetry reading, and one - part early Christmas gift exchange to the Edith Kutz Theater from November 13th through the 16th. The Edith Kutz Theater is located in the David and Carol Lackland Center on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

Discord began previews on October 7 with the press opening tonight, October 15. The closing date is currently scheduled for November 16.
