CSO To Perform Handel's MESSIAH In Its Entirety

CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov leads the Columbus Symphony, guest soprano Alexandra Razskazoff, guest mezzo-soprano Siena Licht Miller, guest tenor Jonas Marcel Hacker, guest bass-baritone Andrew Bogard, and the Columbus Symphony Chorus in an unforgettable performance of Handel's deeply spiritual oratorio, Messiah. The work will be performed in its entirety and is the first time the Columbus Symphony has done so since 2010.

Celebrate 40th Anniversary of Bauhaus with Colored Vinyl Reissues

Late 2018 will mark the 40th anniversary of Bauhaus. To celebrate, Beggars Arkive is reissuing records from the band's catalog on limited edition colored vinyl. In The Flat Field and Mask will be released on October 26th. November 23rd will bring The Sky's Gone Out and Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape, which is being pressed in the US for the first time and is exclusive to US Record Store Day Black Vinyl retailers. Also on this date, Leaving Records (a partner of Stones Throw Records) will release the band's first recording ever, The Bela Session including three previously unreleased tracks and a remastered version of 'Bela Lugosi's Dead.' Da Capo Society To Host WIZARD OF OZ Costume Contest

Sarasota Opera's Da Capo Society, the only young patrons group, ages 21 - 45, dedicated to a single arts organization in Sarasota, will host The Wizard of Oz themed costume contest Thursday, June 7th at 6pm to celebrate the launch of the new season of "Classic Movies at the Opera House." Launched in 2017, the "Classic Movies at the Opera House" series will occur twice monthly starting Thursday, June 7 and will include timeless films designed to be enjoyed on the big screen in the elegance of the Opera House. Each presentation will begin at 7:30pm.

Sarasota Opera Expands Summer Movie Series In 2018

Sarasota Opera is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2018 season of 'HD at the Opera House' and "Classic Movies at the Opera House".  This weekly series of filmed performances has allowed Sarasota Opera to expand its programming from the fall and winter season to year-around. The 2018 "HD at the Opera House" series will open on Sunday, May 20th and run through September 30th and will include presentations of Ballet and Theater from some of the world's most famous venues and companies including the Royal Opera House; Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Royal Shakespeare Company; Vienna State Opera; and the Royal Ballet. Each presentation will begin at 1:30pm.

Verdi Chorus Announces 35th Anniversary Concert With Four Guest Soloists

The Verdi Chorus celebrates its 35th anniversary with its Spring 2018 concert The Force of Destiny for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on April 28 and 29 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, their program will feature selections from three Verdi operas - La forza del destino, Nabucco, including the famed chorus "Va, pensiero," the opening party scene of La traviata, and conclude with beloved melodies from Strauss' Die Fledermaus.

On February 12th, The Museum of Modern Art will celebrate the early work of Tony Award-winning Hairspray and Smash songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman as part of its Club 57: Film, Performance, and Art in the East Village, 1978-1983 exhibition. Columnist Michael Musto will join the writers for the 7 PM conversation and mini-concert that will follow the birth of Shaiman and Wittman's careers as part of the New York City's Lower East Side club scene in the 1980s with an evening of video, conversation, and vocal performance. The evening will revisit a time when the two men found themselves 'too rock and roll for theater, and too theater for rock and roll', according to MoMA.

Gabrielle Stravelli and Billy Stritch are delighted to make their first appearance together at The RRazz Room New Hope in 'Down For Double'. The pair met at the BirdlandJazz Club Cast Party in 2012 and have since collaborated on two shows at the 92nd Street Y, headlined a concert with the Santa Rosa Symphony and spent many spontaneous Monday evenings making music together in the 'jazz capital of the world'. For 'Down for Double' Stravelli and Stritch have mined the Great American Songbook for beloved classics like 'I Wish I Were in Love Again' and 'Goody Goody' and more than a few lesser-known gems. The show features the pair's seamless vocal blend, tight harmonies, scat singing and playful banter and promises to be an unforgettable musical evening.
