Artist Series Concerts Celebrates The Holidays In Swinging Andrews Sisters Style

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota ramps up the holiday with Harmony for the Holidays, featuring the sweet-toned harmonies and sure-footed swing of acclaimed vocal jazz trio Duchess. The New York City-based threesome a?" Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner and Melissa Stylianou - are joined by noted jazz pianist Carmen Staaf, bassist Don Mopsick and percussionist Rick Costa for a sparkling holiday program that includes such traditional favorites as Silver Bells, What Are You Doing New Year's Eve, and the Andrews Sisters' Christmas Island, plus holiday novelties like Santa Baby, Mele Kalikimaka (Hawaii's way to say a?oemerry Christmasa??), Christmas Compromise and much more. Performances are December 21 at 7:30 p.m. and December 22 at 3:00 p.m., at the Historic Asolo Theater, 5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota. Barb Jungr Returns to New York for the US Premiere of BOB, BREL AND ME at Joe's Pub

The iconoclastic British singer Barb Jungr returns to New York for the US premiere of 'Bob, Brel and Me,' her latest live-show-and-recording project, in an exclusive two-night engagement at Joe's Pub in February. Jungr performs songs from her new album, which released in the UK in September to sterling reviews, on Friday and Saturday February 14 & 15, both at 7pm. With Mark Hartman on piano, this is Jungr's first Joe's Pub appearance since July 2018. She began appearing at the club in 2003.

Mark Murphy has announced his decision to leave REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater), the California Institute of the Arts' contemporary performing arts and exhibition space located in The Walt Disney Concert Hall, at the end of the 2018/2019 season, in order to focus his attention on initiating new creative programs and productions in a variety of US and international cities. Murphy has led REDCAT for more than seventeen years, starting as its founding Executive Director in 2001, before overseeing the grand opening of the facility in 2003. Edgar Miramontes, Associate Director at REDCAT, will assume additional duties of interim leadership until a permanent appointment is made.
