Featuring 36 performers, the production stars Michele Ragusa as Anna, seen recently on Broadway in Young Frankenstein, Urinetown, Ragtime, A Class Act, Titanic and Cyrano. Wayne Hu stars as the King, recently seen in Camelot and King for a Day with The Glimmerglass Festival and La Boheme with Opera Memphis. The King and I also includes performances by 14 local children (ages 6 - 11) from Lake Worth to the Treasure Coast, cast through the Theatre's annual First Step to Stardom audition program.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.

Yorktown Stage will open Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical The King and I, at the Theatre in Yorktown Heights on April 25.

As previously reported, following a successful run in Melbourne, the producers of KING KONG were planning to bring the mega-musical to Broadway in December 2014. Due to the 'huge scale of the production' and to allow the creative team necessary time to implement changes, the producers have decided 'to not rush in before the end of the year.'

Broadway stars might boast the biggest fan-bases, but without their directors, the vehicle driving their talents could easily swerve off the tracks. Happy Birthday, Elaine Paige! Paige was selected to play Eva Peron in the first production of Evita in 1978, which brought her to the attention of the broader public. She went on to originate the role of Grizabella in Cats and had a Top 10 hit with 'Memory', a song from the show. She then appeared in the original stage production of Chess, followed by a starring role in Anything Goes which she also co-produced. Paige made her Broadway debut in Sunset Boulevard in 1996, playing the lead role of Norma Desmond, to critical acclaim. She appeared in The King and I from 2000 to 2001, and six years later she returned to the West End stage in The Drowsy Chaperone. Most recently, she starred in Follies on Broadway.

Lovers of musical theatre should get in quickly as new seats go on sale for the Brisbane season of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Broadway musical The King and I from Monday 10 February at 9.00am.

Since it premiered in Melbourne last year, running on a budget of $30 million, producers have been eyeing KONG's Broadway debut - only saying that they were aiming for the 2014-15 season.

This talented and respected actress has had a diverse career, making a number of appearances on both the big and small screens, working in such films as The Bourne Legacy, Tangled, World Trade Center, Spider-Man 2, The Door in the Floor, Star Trek: Insurrection, Center Stage and The Astronaut's Wife. Murphy has also appeared on television shows The Mentalist, Damages, Law & Order and The Practice.'

STARZ announced today the involvement of internationally-renowned dancers in the original drama series 'Flesh and Bone' (previously announced as an 'Untitled Ballet Project') currently in development at the network, from award-winning 'Breaking Bad' Writer and Co-Executive Producer, Moira Walley-Beckett. 'Flesh and Bone' follows a young ballet dancer, Claire Robbins, who has a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. The dark and gritty series will unflinchingly explore the dysfunction and glamour of the ballet world.

According to The Age, the creators of the new Australian musical KING KONG are searching for a theater on Broadway. Global Creatures' producer Bill Harris, technical director Richard Martin and production designer Peter England are vetting theaters this week. The team is looking to launch KING KONG in the United States within the next two years.

Last weekend, August 22-25, 2013, the Dramatists Guild of America held its second ever national conference in Chicago, at the Hilton Chicago on South Michigan Avenue. The Dramatists Guild is the professional association of playwrights, librettists, lyricists and composers writing for the stage. And with almost 7,000 members, that's a lot of creative energy!

Australia's leading theatre producer John Frost today announced that his Tony Award-winning production of The King and I is the next Rodgers and Hammerstein masterpiece to be presented in Australia by the Gordon Frost Organisation and Opera Australia. The Christopher Renshaw directed production premiered in Australia in 1991 to sell out houses across the country, then went on to win four Tony Awards on Broadway in 1996, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical (Donna Murphy), Best Scenic Design (Brian Thompson) and Best Costume Design (Roger Kirk).
