5-STAR THEATRICALS opens its 2018-2019 season with the Thousand Oaks premiere of SHREK THE MUSICAL
National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 83rd Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Wolf at the Door by Marisela Treviño Orta. The Roll kicks off at Member Theater New Jersey Repertory Company (October 18-November 18 in Long Branch), followed by Kitchen Dog Theater (April 11-May 5 in Dallas), Milagro (May 2-25 in Portland) and Halcyon Theatre (May 16-June 29 in Chicago).
The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, presents the Off-Broadway premiere of the acclaimed new musical Midnight at The Never Get, with book, music, and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick, co-conceived by Sam Bolen, by arrangement with Visceral Entertainment and Mark Cortale Productions. Directed by Max Friedman, with choreography by Andrew Palermo, and music direction/arrangements by Adam Podd, the cast will feature Sam Bolen, Jeremy Cohen, and Jon J. Peterson. Performances begin Tuesday, October 2, 2018 for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Thursday evening, October 11, 2018 at 6:45 p.m.

Two of the country's leading contemporary dance venues are teaming up to commission brand new family friendly shows to be presented during the Christmas period of 2018 and 2019. The Place and DanceEast have commissioned Luca Silvestrini's Protein and Vicki Igbokwe's Uchenna Dance's to create the shows. It will be the first time Vicki Igbokwe has created a work for families, and the first time Luca Silvestrini has used an existing story as his starting point. The project also marks the first time The Place has commissioned a show for the festive season.
