Theatre for a New Audience has announced the extension of the Off-Broadway premiere of Denis Johnson’s Des Moines. The final play from the late author now runs through January 8, 2023 (extended from an original closing date of January 1).

Native Son - the leading organization championing Black gay and queer men – has unveiled its illustrious, annual year-end Native Son 101 List highlighting Black gay and queer men who made an impact in 2022. The Sixth Annual Allman Family Revival,  one of the year's most anticipated Southern Roots/Rock tours celebrating the Life and Music of legendary Allman Brothers Band co-founder Greg Allman and led by Gregg's son, Devon Allman, kicks off this year's eighteen-city tour with a performance in the historic home base of the Allman Brothers.

What did our critic think of THE SHADOW BOX at BACCA Arts Center? With his 1977 Pulitzer Prize Winning play, The Shadow Box, Michael Cristofer creates his own display case, a shadow box if you will, showcasing life's unfortunate one sure thing, death. In the play's program, a quote is provided from renowned psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. She stated, 'There are five different stages that a person will go through when he faces the fact of his own death: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. These stages will last for different periods of time; they will replace each other, or exist at times side by side...But the one thing that usually persists through all these signs is hope.' Cristofer allows the audience to see these varying stages of grief through his characters. The play takes place at three hospice cottages where we see how death affects three terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Shadow boxes are usually created to display memories and keepsakes. Cristofer uses the cottages metaphorically to showcase the grieving process.

 SongwritingWith:Soldiers has announced the second annual commemorative concert in Luckenbach Texas to be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2022 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the nonprofit organization.

While the doors to the Balzer Theater at Herren's are blocked by construction vehicles for the “Heart of the City” Capital Campaign renovation, Theatrical Outfit (TO) is putting new work center stage with Made in Atlanta. 

August Wilson's FENCES will run at Playhouse on Park November 2 - 20, 2022. This production will be directed by Kenney M. Green. FENCES is a part of Playhouse on Park's 14th Main Stage Season, the theme of which is Perseverance. This season highlights stories of fighters and survivors, to coincide with the Playhouse's journey of persevering through the pandemic.
