The 2019 Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival, New York's all-Irish theatre festival and the world's only festival devoted exclusively to producing the plays of contemporary Irish playwrights from around the world, settles in to its new January time slot, running three weeks from January 9 to 28. A total 17 events, including six mainstage productions from Belfast, Derry, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Queens and Manhattan, will be seen in and out of competition. New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) (Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director Jeremy Blocker) announced today that due to high demand, the world premiere of Slave Play by Jeremy O. Harris (Daddy, Zola), directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy), will run for an additional two weeks. Originally scheduled to play its final performance on December 30, 2018, Slave Play will now play additional performances through Sunday January 13, 2019. Slave Play began previews on Monday, November 19, 2018 and will open Sunday, December 9 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003).

The Broadway Boys have released the first single “Magic to Do” off of their upcoming album. Entitled, “A New Broadway,” this will be the group's third album and will highlight the new sound, the new arrangements and the new talent of The Broadway Boys. “A New Broadway” was recorded in August and is being produced by James Sampliner (THE PRINCE OF BROADWAY) and Artistic Director of The Broadway Boys Jesse Nager (MOTOWN THE MUSICAL).

In 1980 the film '9 to 5' about the secretaries who rebelled against their CEO when they were tired of his behavior, was a blockbuster at the cinemas worldwide. The film may well be seen as a classic because Dolly Parton's lead motive became such a success. Ten years ago, it opened as a musical in Los Angeles with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and script by Patricia Resnick. In 2009 it opened on Broadway for a short period of time and has been played for example in England and in a couple of places in Germany and will open on January 28, 2019 at Savoy, West End in London. But the 23rd of November it was premiered at Tibble Theatre outside Stockholm, produced and directed by Robin Karlsson.

The Round Barn Theatre first produced "Annie" in 1996, its first year of repertory theatre. Nine year old Sarajane Morse Mullins captured the hearts of that first year's audience as the world's most famous redhead. Now twenty-two years later, Sarajane returns as Miss Hannigan on the same stage she began her professional career. Annie's red dress has been passed to Maddi Reese Ames, the next generation of budding starlets. It promises to be a special homecoming and debut for the two actresses and audiences.
