Dundalk Community Theatre Presents SIDESHOW Image

Dundalk Community Theatre begins its 2019 season with Bill Russell's 1998 Tony Award Nominated Musical "Side Show", from November 9th - 18th. The show brings to life the world of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins, who became famous stage performers in the 1930s. Individual tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for senior adults and $17 for students/DCT Actors/Children 12 and under.

From its opening lyrics "come look at the freaks, the pygmies and geeks...only pennies for peeks, come look at the freaks" one does not know what to expect in the spectacle of carnival side shows, vaudeville and eventually Hollywood glamour. However, Daisy and Violet Hilton's road to stardom on the Orpheum Circuit is a heartwarming tale of conjoined twins searching to fulfill their hearts ambitions and find acceptance, while one dreams of fame and the other of love. Told in retrospect, the other "freaks" from the side show help tell the story of the twins' remarkable rise. In the end, they passionately sing "I Will Never Leave You", one of the best female duet anthems to hit Broadway.

Show times are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday - November 9th-18th, in the John E. Ravekes Theatre, K Building. For tickets and information, call 443-840-2787.
