Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the “2018 American Music Awards,” the world's largest fan-voted awards show, will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

The Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Play House MFA Acting Program is proud to begin their season with a modern reimagining of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. Chekhov's classic play about artistic rebellion, translated by Paul Schmidt, will star the MFA Class of 2020 and guests. Director Sarah Wansley's staging will shed light on the show's poetic realism. Actors Co-op Theatre Company (Ovation Award-Winner 2017 Best Play, Intimate Theatre for 33 Variations) presents the first show in its 27th Season with the thriller ROPE, written by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Ken Sawyer, produced by Kevin Shewey.  ROPE will preview on Thursday, September 20 at 8pm and will open Friday, September 21 at 8pm and run through Sunday, October 29 at the Actors Co-op Crossley Theatre, 1760 N. Gower St. 90028 (on the campus of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood) in Hollywood.

Casting is now complete for the foot-stompin' musical Honky Tonk Angels. This performance, playing from September 19 - September 30, will be directed by DAVID HEMSLEY CALDWELL, returning to the Lyceum for his 20th production, and musically directed by SAM CLEIN. The production features SHARON MALANE as Darlene, ERIN MCCRACKEN as Angela, and SHELBY RINGDAHL as Sue Ellen.

Transport Group has announced casting for its world premiere musical, Renascence, which begins performances Friday, October 5 at 7:30pm, at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. Renascence has music by Carmel Dean (musical director If/Then, American Idiot), book by Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), and lyrics from the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. The musical is directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III and Dick Scanlan. The opening is set for Thursday, October 25 at 7:30pm.

The fourth annual GI Film Festival San Diego is getting ready to roll from Tuesday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018. Organizers have once again curated a film lineup to feature the untold and underrepresented stories of America's military through film. The six-day San Diego military film festival features 34 films, including nine world premieres and five West Coast premieres, as well as several screenings, filmmaker appearances, and panel discussions. GI Film Festival San Diego attendees have opportunities to watch the films, meet filmmakers and film subjects, and have conversations to tackle topics that are usually unspoken.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will end its Green Show season early due the ongoing impacts of wildfire smoke. The Green Show, a series of free performances typically offered on OSF's Courtyard Stage six nights a week throughout the summer and into mid-October, will end on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018. The Festival remains open and its 10 mainstage plays will continue into October.

The Country Music Association's critically acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank announces a performance at The Heights Theater in Houston Monday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 PM featuring Josh Kerr, Maddie & Tae and Jon Nite. Maddie & Tae's Maddie Marlow (from Sugarland, TX) and Tae Dye have a strong connection to Texas, with the two first meeting during a music showcase in Dallas prior to becoming a Platinum-selling duo, while Nite was born in Amarillo, TX. The DC premiere of British playwright Lucy Kirkwood's urgent and unsettling eco-thriller The Children rounds out Studio Theatre's Main Series for its 40th Anniversary Season. Directed by Studio Artistic Director David Muse, The Children deepens his relationship with Kirkwood's work-he directed the DC premiere of her play Chimerica in 2015. Inspired in part by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear explosion in Japan, Kirkwood's disaster drama begins as an old love triangle flaring to life in the aftermath of a natural disaster and morphs into a disquieting look at the cataclysmic impact of human intervention in the natural world.
