The holiday season is upon us and popular vocalist Shawn Kilgore gives audiences the perfect way to ring in the fun in his newest solo cabaret - Christmas Time Is Here - as part of The Spotlight Cabaret Series at The Winter Park Playhouse, December 18 and 19, 2019. Fraser Entertainment Group's AN EVENING OF CLASSIC BROADWAY will be back at LA's Rockwell Table and Stage with another new cast of performers. The celebration of the Broadway Songbook will take place on Sunday, July 21st at 8PM (doors open at 6:30).

Milwaukee Repertory Theater announces the cast and creative teams for the 201920 Season shows 2 Pianos 4 Hands, The Niceties, The Nerd and Nunsense.

Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its 2019-2020 season at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. The season will feature the regional premieres of the 2015 Tony Award winning musical, Fun Home, the 2019 Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominated musical, Head Over Heels, and a new twist on the Nunsense holiday special, Nuncrackers. In addition, the season will include the 2017 Tony Award nominated play, Six Degrees of Separation. Uptown Players will also present two bonus add-on shows to its season lineup: the world premiere of the latest play (based on the hit film) from Del Shores, A Very Sordid Wedding and Uptown Players' annual fundraising production, Broadway Our Way.

Last night's opening of CHURCH GIRLS, the musical, at the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater was a hilarious journey through the crazy and satirical world of religion, politics, and slapstick comedy. CHURCH GIRLS, most definitely, is the funniest show that I have seen in the past five years. Is it silly? Yes. Is it over the top? Yes. Is it worth seeing? Yes. CHURCH GIRLS is the newest and funniest addition to the long line of satirical plays going after those people who use religion for their own means. NUNSENSE may be more refined, but CHURCH GIRLS is funnier.

The Winter Park Playhouse will present a humorous and heartwarming contemporary musical, Heartbeats, as the final production of its current series of professional musicals May 10 through June 9, 2019. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Saturday matinee performances at 2 p.m. and select Friday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Next up for Cleveland's Theatre in the Circle is an innovative new production of the much-loved classic You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown!, the 1967 musical with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner based on the characters created by Charles M. Schulz in the comic strip Peanuts.

Brushes by co-playwrights Cathy Hamilton and Carol Starr Schneider is set to open at the Whitefire Saturday March 30. These gals recently sat down and chatted about the play.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for the world premiere of Tazewell Thompson's inspirational a cappella music infused play, Jubilee. Inspired by the world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers, this uplifting new work chronicles the bold African American ensemble as they travel the world, captivating kings, queens and audiences with hymns and spiritual songs supported by their rich voices. Written and directed by Thompson with vocal arrangements and music direction by Dianne Adams McDowell, Jubilee runs April 26 - June 2, 2019 in the Kreeger Theater.

Centenary Stage Company's family holiday spectacular opens this weekend with everyone's favorite orphan in Annie the musical. Annie opens Friday November 23 and runs through December 9 at the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown, NJ. Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It will come as no surprise to theater fans in Connecticut that we have an embarrassment of riches in our state when it comes to our favorite past-time. From multiple touring houses to some of the finest professional theaters in the country to top-notch community theater companies - Connecticut has it all. But what often gets overlooked in the sea of theatrical choices are the top-rated college and university theater programs right in our own back yard. After years of ignorance (or simple lack of awareness), I witnessed, first hand, the amazing work being produced by the students at one of these schools, The Hartt School of the University of Hartford. This dedication to not only learning the craft, but delivering a powerful and thrilling performance was front and center in the school's most recent production of Neil Simon, Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields' classic musical SWEET CHARITY, which ran for just four (too) short days October 18 - 21st.

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.
