BWW Review: WELCOME TO FEAR CITY at CATF
by Johnna Leary - Jul 25, 2017

Though it contains the admirable and relevant racial contemporary message the playwright, Kara Lee Corthron, intended, Welcome to Fear City suffers from a lack of a coherent vision and a dragging pace unsuited to the fast-talking, non-stop world of the 1970's Bronx in which the play is set. BWW Review: PIPPIN at SoLuna Studios
by Anthony Hazzard & Scott Stolzenberg - Jul 22, 2017

It was a magical night at the SoLuna Studio as the exceptional cast of 'Pippin' graced the stage, sang and danced in the aisles, and at times, wound up performing in our laps. Composer Stephen Schwartz' masterpiece is brought to life by a talented bunch of young actors and actresses who are certainly on their way to Broadway. Not only does this energetic cast perform the entire 1972 Broadway musical with great gusto and pride but they also created an exceptional circus atmosphere, reminiscent of the 2013 Broadway revival, which brought 'Pippin' to a whole new exciting level. BWW Review: Destiny Theatre Experience's MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT Burns Bright
by Jeffrey Ellis - Jul 22, 2017

Despite its provocative title and abundant profanity (or maybe even because of it), Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Motherf**ker With the Hat is actually filled with a lot of humanity and heart, enough that you'll find it difficult to shake off the story and its characters long after the final scene has played out. And thanks to director Kurt Jarvis' production for Destiny Theatre Experience's tenth anniversary, the Nashville debut will likely be talked about and recounted for months to come - which seems the perfect testament to the impact of Shawn Whitsell's company on Music City's vibrant arts and theater company.
