In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Folger Theatre is altering the programming schedule for its 2020/21 'On the Road' season of plays. PEARL ETERNITY Will Play the Huntington Avenue Theatre

Pearl Eternity (PearlTheShow.com), a Broadway style dance-theatre spectacular, inspired by the life of Pearl S. Buck, the first woman to win both the Nobel and the Pulitzer Prizes, will play the Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue) on Saturday, January 11 at 8pm. The story, focusing on the substantial influence Pearl had on both Chinese and Western cultures, will be brought to life through choreography by Daniel Ezralow (Ezralow Dance Company, Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, Cirque du Soleil's LOVE, MOMIX, Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony, Academy Awards), a new score composed by Jun Miyake (collaborations with Robert Wilson, Pina Bausch, David Byrne and Oliver Stone), story by Zhang Bing, produced by Angela Tang, dazzling visuals, and a company of 20 dancers. The show premiered to great acclaim at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Broadway Press Agent Bob Ullman Passes Away at 97

Robert ('Bob') Ullman (left), the legendary theatre press agent, whose career included Ethel Merman and Mary Martin: Together on Broadway, A Chorus Line (from workshop to Public Theater to Broadway), Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in The Visit, Lauren Bacall in Cactus Flower, The Dining Room, Driving Miss Daisy, Sunday in the Park with George, and over 150 additional Broadway and off-Broadway plays and musicals, died on July 31, 2019 in Bayshore, Long Island, New York. He was 97. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Bob's death was announced by Rev. Joshua Ellis, a long-time Ullman friend, a former Broadway press agent, and now, an Interspiritual minister.

French Institute Alliance Francaise Presents SUMMER OF MICHEL LEGRAND

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF) honors the great French composer Michel Legrand, who died in January this year, with a special Cin Salon series devoted to his life and work. Curated by one of his longtime collaborators and greatest interpreters, singer and actress Melissa Errico, Summer of Michel Legrand brings together seven of his films from his best known triumphs such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort to lesser known gems such as the enchanting fairy-tale musical Donkey Skin. Screenings take place on Tuesdays in July at 4pm and 7:30pm in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.

YPTW Presents Rodgers And Hammerstein's STATE FAIR

Young People's Theatre Workshop (YPTW) presents the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical State Fair on stage at the Players Club of Swarthmore May 24 to June 2. The State Fair cast includes 60 talented performers, ages 8-18, from the Philadelphia regional area. Show dates are May 24, 25, and June 1 at 7:30 p.m., May 27 at 6 p.m., May 28 and 30 at 7 p.m. and May 26 and June 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15, and all seats are reserved. ZACH Theatre kicks off 2019 with two show openings, one show closing, and a new "Pay-What-You-Will" program for all Mainstage productions. Hedwig returns to Texas in the Austin debut of the 2014 Tony Award-winning incarnation of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Hedwig and the Angry Inch playing The Topfer at ZACH running January 23-March 3, 2019 with a new "Pay-What-You-Will" program to begin with this production. In collaboration with University of Texas at Austin's Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities (DTYC) MFA Program, This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing will now join the season lineup running January 13, 19, 20, and 26, 2019 in The Whisenhunt at ZACH, performed and devised by the ensemble. Allen Robertson's smash-hit musical for all ages, Tortoise and Hare will close in The Kleberg at ZACH on January 27.
