Following a critically acclaimed, sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, award-winning stand-up comedian and poet Rob Auton will take his latest hour The Hair Show on his biggest nationwide tour to date from 31st January

The Public Theater hosts a one-night-only 50th Anniversary benefit celebration of the legendary musical HAIR, which first premiered at The Public in 1967, tonight, October 25.

Helping Adam launch the show were Orange is the New Black's Annie Golden ('Norma Romano') and Lin Tucci ('Anita DeMarco'), plus Broadway's Lauren Elder (revivals of Hair & Side Show), and award-winning composer/lyricist Bobby Cronin (forthcoming Mary & Max). Mercury Theater Chicago, 3745 N. Southport Avenue - has announced the extension of our rousing rock musical HAIR: THE AMERICAN TRIBAL LOVE-ROCK MUSICAL through September 24th due to popular demand.

MNM Productions' Company is the latest venture by theatrical producers and arts consultants Marcie Gorman-Althof and Michael Lifshitz. Company is their sixth major musical following A Chorus Line, Side By Side By Sondheim, Hair, The World Goes 'Round and, most recently, Monty Python's Spamalot. MNM Productions' Company will be appearing at the Marshall E. Rinker Playhouse of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts through August 6, 2017.

Mercury Theater Chicago, 3745 N. Southport Avenue - is pleased to announce the cast of HAIR: THE AMERICAN TRIBAL LOVE-ROCK MUSICAL, playing from July 27 through September 17. Press opening is Thursday, August 3rd at 8:00pm. A celebration of 50 years since the 1967 "Summer of Love", HAIR will inspire audiences to "let the sun shine in" and stand up for what they believe in. This rousing rock musical will be led by Jeff Award Winners Brenda Didier (Director) and Eugene Dizon (Musical Director) with choreography by Christopher Carter.  A talented cast of Chicago artists featuring Matt Keffer and Liam Quealy will take the stage in this celebration of love, life, and freedom. 

Principal Conductor Michael Feinstein leads the Pasadena POPS for its star-studded 2017 Summer Concert Series at the Los Angeles Arboretum with extraordinary multiple award winning guests artists Liza Minnelli, Alan Cumming, Joel Gray, Hair Spray Live's Madelyn Baillio, Beautiful's Jessie Mueller and Jarrod Spector, Grey Garden's Rachel York, Phantom of the Opera's Jordan Donica, the Midtown Men and Michael Feinstein in concert.

In Kurtis Boetcher's set design for Marcus Gardley's world premiere A WONDER IN MY SOUL, the backdrop for the South Side beauty shop where the play is set prominently displays the photographs of black female icons ranging from Diana Ross to Beyonce-and all of course have fabulous hair in the photos. And as we learn in the play, Aberdeen "Birdie" Calumet (Greta Oglesby) and Bell Grand Lake's (Jacqueline Williams) fictional beauty shop has played host to a number of these famous black women over the years. But what Gardley's play does so beautifully is take the story of these specific, everyday characters and lend a universality to them. The play takes place primarily in 2008 but shows us flashbacks of young Birdie (Camille Robinson) and young Bell (Donica Lynn) as they make their way from Mississippi to settle in Chicago and start their business. Along the way, Gardley weaves a narrative that is warm and sometimes funny but also ultimately serious and touching. And as one would expect, Johnny Jamison's hair and wig design is just superb.

Kate Fleetwood's varied career encompasses everything from musicals London Road and High Society to Macbeth and Medea. She's currently starring in American writer Lindsey Ferrentino's play about a soldier who returns home to Florida after suffering a life-changing injury in Afghanistan. The production begins previews tonight.
