THE SHANGHAI GESTURE Comes To The Mirror Rep 4/21

The Mirror Repertory Company will present John Colton's THE SHANGHAI GESTURE, an epic story of love and revenge -- and the culture clash of blood and ethnicity, April 21, 2009 thru May 17, 2009 at the Julia Miles Theatre, 424 West 55th St. Previews begin April 23rd and the official opening will be on April 30, 2009 at 7PM.

The Garden Theatre presents the Orlando Theatre Project production of I Do, I Do from April 3-19, 2009, at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street). This touching musical follows a couple through 50 years of marriage. Renowned actors David Kelley and Laura Hodos portray the husband and wife duo. Hodos was recently nominated for a Carbonell Award for her performance in She Loves Me at the Caldwell Theatre Company in Boca Raton. With story and lyrics written by the infamous Tom Jones, there is no better director than Tom Jones? wife Janet Watson. She has choreographed several incarnations of I Do, I Do off-Broadway.

Students from The University of the Arts come together with three of Philadelphia's leading theater artists to bring John Irving's 1985 novel 'The Cider House Rules' to the Merriam Theater stage April 3-5. Johnnie Hobbs Jr. and Aaron Cromie, faculty members in the university's School of Theater Arts, direct the play's first and second parts, respectively.

The Public Announces 'Kicking A Dead Horse' Extension

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Mara Manus) announced that KICKING A DEAD HORSE, a new play written and directed by Pulitzer Prize winner Sam Shepard and featuring Tony Award nominee Stephen Rea, has extended its run by two weeks. Following a sold-out run at Ireland's Abbey Theatre, it will preview at The Public on Wednesday, June 25 and run through Sunday, August 10 with an official press opening on Monday, July 14 at 7 PM.
