Featuring a lively cast of dozens, delightful music, gorgeous costumes, and those deliciously spooky ghosts, the Bay Area's favorite holiday tradition returns as American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) presents its celebrated production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol.

PlayPenn, the new play development organization which assisted in the development of the Tony Award-winning international hit OSLO by J.T. Rogers, has announced their 2019 New Play Development Conferenceplays and writers, which will constitute the inaugural class of Haas Fellows.

The 2019 season opens with THE GAME'S AFOOT by Ken Ludwig. It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop. - March 22 - April 7

The production is choreographed by Mohamed Drissi with music director Edgar Hung and singing supervisor Beilosi Fung. A 23-strong cast is led by guest artist Pichead Amornsomboon and Ko Hon Man, Jordan Cheung, Lau Shau Ching and Mercy Wong. There will be belly laughs galore when the Kinsey Sicks take the stage for this one-night only engagement, Oy Vey in a Manger, Dec. 15 at The White Theatre of the Jewish Community Center (The J). "Oy Vey in a Manger" features a dragapella quartet - Rachel, Winnie, Trixie and Trampolina - who sing and dance providing a decidedly R-rated romp through the best and worst of Christmas adding a splash of fierce feminism and fun! Lantern Theater Company is thrilled to announce the world premiere of an original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, commissioned and developed through the Lantern's New Play Program and co-created by Philadelphia-based artists Anthony Lawton, Christopher Colucci, and Thom Weaver. The full cast for The 5th Avenue Theatre's spectacular new production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which stars Deaf actorJoshua Castille as Quasimodo, has been announced. Castille will use American Sign Language (ASL) throughout his performance, bringing new life and perspective to Quasimodo, who is deaf in the novel by Victor Hugo.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.
