The centennial of renowned American composer Leonard Bernstein is celebrated throughout the National Philharmonic's 2018-2019 concert series at The Music Center at Strathmore. Performing compositions that influenced Bernstein, as well as some of his very own famous works, the National Philharmonic will be the only symphony orchestra dedicating most of its 2018-2019 season to the works surrounding the legendary composer.

WEST SIDE STORY, the Fugard Theatre's epic out-of-house production, which is currently back for a final South African season at the Artscape Opera House, has extended its run by popular demand. The highly acclaimed show that opened on 7 March to rave reviews and five-star ratings, has once again taken Cape Town by storm and will now run to 22 April 2018, when it must close. There is no possibility for extension beyond that date.

As reported last night, it's now official that Caroline, Or Change, the celebrated musical written by Tony Kushner, author of Angels in America, with a soaring score from Tony Award-winning Jeanine Tesori, will transfer into the West End's Playhouse Theatre from 20 November 2018 to 9 February 2019.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced the 2018 winners of the Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Awards-a series of annual grants which recognize American teachers by spotlighting their extraordinary impact on the lives of students. Four teachers were selected in 2018 from a pool of nominations received through the Kennedy Center's website. Award recipients each receive $10,000 and are showcased, along with the former students they inspired, on a website dedicated to inspirational teachers. The awards, created by the Center in honor of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday in 2010, were initiated and funded through the generous support of Myrna and Freddie Gershon. To date, 75 awards totaling $750,000 have been presented.

Shakespeare Theatre Company today announces the cast of Lerner and Loewe's multiple Tony Award-winning musical Camelot. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul (Kiss Me, Kate; Man of La Mancha), the classic musical will play at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from May 22 through July 1, concluding STC's 2017-2018 mainstage season.

This spring Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) joins in international centennial celebrations for choreographer Jerome Robbins and composer Leonard Bernstein with an all-Robbins program featuring three company premieres. "UPMC Presents West Side Story Suite + In the Night + Fancy Free" with the PBT Orchestra takes the stage May 4-6, at the Benedum Center.

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera today announced its lineup for the 2018 Deer Valley Music Festival in addition to its plans to celebrate its 15th year of calling Park City, Utah its summer home. Highlights of the six-week, 17-concert music festival, which begins on June 30, 2018 and runs through August 11, 2018, include Utah Symphony performances with Emmy and Tony Award-winning Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth, folk-rock singer-songwriter Amos Lee, 14-time Grammy Award-winner Ricky Skaggs, and Grammy Award-winner Rick Springfield; music of John Williams with scores from some of Hollywood's biggest blockbuster movies; Broadway vocalists and show tunes honoring Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim musicals; tributes to Swedish pop sensation ABBA, Pink Floyd and the music of the 1970s and '80s; Disney in Concert "A Silly Symphony Celebration" with scenes from some of Disney's earliest colorful cartoons playing on giant screens; and the perennial favorite, "1812 Overture" with live cannon fire on the hillside provided by Cannoneers of the Wasatch.

Naya Rivera, best known for her performance as Santana Lopez on the television show Glee, has posted her audition video for the upcoming West Side Story film remake. Rivera wrote in the caption '@unitedtalentagency file was too big to send via email for my audition. Thought I'd try it this way.'

The current season of WEST SIDE STORY - produced by the Fugard Theatre in the Artscape Opera House - is still as grand as it was in 2015, but is even better in 2018 than it was before - an emotional rollercoaster that is second to none. When I look back at the various productions and performances of WEST SIDE STORY that I have seen to date, this is the one I will remember.

The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) announces its 2018-2019 season, featuring more concerts than ever before including a six-concert subscription series with new Saturday evening performance options and music ranging from classical Beethoven and Brahms concertos to a celebration of Leonard Bernstein favorites, works by Paganini, Jana?ek, and Stravinsky, and a Dvo?ak symphony. There is a recent piece by Missy Mazzoli and a new work by Derek Bermel, co-commissioned by the PSO. Superstar violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pianists Inon Barnatan and Dominic Cheli, soprano Meghan Picerno, and guest conductor Marcelo Lehninger grace the PSO stage. Audience favorites Daniel Rowland and flutist Chelsea Knox make highly anticipated return appearances, and an afternoon of music by Falla is accompanied by flamenco dancing. Presiding over all is conductor and Music Director Rossen Milanov, whose 10-year anniversary celebration with the PSO gets underway in early 2019.

The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced an incredible six-show lineup for its 2018/19 season, which includes launching the national tour of the acclaimed sensation Come From Away, the timeless beloved musical Annie, rock 'n' roll hit parade Rock of Ages, the sumptuous West Coast premiere of Little Dancer, a lavish and loving staging of the iconic West Side Story and an exciting new collaboration with ACT - A Contemporary Theatre-Urinetown. Celebrating the centennial (1918 - 2018) of its composer -- Leonard Bernstein -- the multi-Grammy nominated Bobby Sanabria and the MultiVerse Big Band pay tribute to West Side Story, the theatrical production that redefined the American musical, reimagined with an all new instrumental Latin jazz score. The 21-piece ensemble will perform the work at the Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture, 450 Grand Concourse (at 149th Street) in the Bronx, on Saturday, March 17, 7:30 PM in the Main Theater. The Columbus Symphony and Music Director Rossen Milanov today announced the 2018-19 Masterworks series, a celebration of the excellence of the orchestra. This season will mark Milanov's fourth as artistic leader of the organization, and first of his contract extension through 2025.

Ahead of the opening of priority booking for Friends of the Festival on Saturday, 24 March, details of the full programme for the 67th Wexford Festival Opera are announced. Continuing its tradition of presenting the 'best operas rarely seen', this year's Festival includes a verismo double-bill, a European premiere and a classic Wexford offering involving kidnapping, murder, arson and a posh New York dinner party that doesn't quite go to plan! All this plus three daytime ShortWorks operas, concerts, recitals, theatre and talks. 62 public events over the autumn 17-day period.

The MTH Theater at Crown Center is pleased to announce casting for its first show of its 16th Season, BROADWAY'S GOLDEN AGE. An MTH original production, the show is helmed by respected Kansas City Theater Artist Julie Shaw, who makes her MTH directorial debut with this production.
