The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance presents Matawan by Dan Caffrey, October 10-21, 2018 at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre.

Cristina Garcia is officially adapting her award-winning novel, Dreaming in Cuban, for theatrical production. She is collaborating with Adrian Alexander Alea, who most recently assistant directed The Public Theater's A Midsummer Night's Dream, to direct and produce this most anticipated piece.

Shapes: Mountains is the latest in Tru Thoughts' series of label compilations put together by A&R, label co-founder and renowned DJ Robert Luis. After 19 years of independently releasing music, the Shapes LPs continue to encompass the best of the Brighton-based label's wide-ranging and international roster. Featuring the finest of Tru Thoughts' classic cuts, recent releases and inspired remixes, Shapes: Mounatins is out on digital and limited edition transparent green vinyl (with full 32 track download card) on October 12, 2018.  

Lookingglass Theatre Company, Court Theatre and Manual Cinema, Lifeline Theatre, and Remy Bumppo Theatre Company announce FRANKENSTEIN: Unearthed, a one-time-only event exploring the four productions of this classic tale coming to Chicago stages during the 2018-2019 season. FRANKENSTEIN: Unearthed takes place September 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Lookingglass Theatre Company. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=85009b. Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced five new shows that will join its diverse 2018-19 season. Tony Bennett, 19-time Grammy Award-winning musician, will perform at LBC Tuesday, December 11, 2018; the popular comedy show Whose Live Anyway returns on Sunday, February 17, 2019; American folk legend Arlo Guthrie performs in Santa Rosa as part of The Alice Restaurant's 50th Anniversary Tour on Thursday, March 28, 2019; Friends! The Musical Parody also returns to LBC on Tuesday, April 30, 2019; and American roots musician Keb' Mo' plays at the Center on Thursday, May 16, 2019. 

Drury Lane Theatre announces the complete lineup of its 20192020 season, including two award-winning Regional Theatre premieres-the imaginative Matilda, based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, and the beautifully captivating Gershwin musical An American in Paris. The thrilling season also includes the revival of the exhilarating The Color Purple, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel; the magical musical for all ages Mary Poppins; and Agatha Christie's edge-of-your-seat murder mystery And Then There Were None. The season runs April 2018-March 2019 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace.

Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 2018-2019 season launches with the Tony Award-winning musical The Color Purple, adapted from Alice Walker's classic novel about the sisterhood, resilience and self-empowerment found in a community of black women living in rural Georgia in the early 20th century. The Color Purple begins preview performances on September 15, opens on September 21, and runs through October 28 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage. Timothy Douglas directs the production, joined by music director Darius Smith, who will bring the Grammy Award-winning score to life.

Encompass New Opera Theatre will present the world premiere of Anna Christie with music by Edward Thomas set to a libretto by Joseph Masteroff, beginning on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 8pm, running through Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (at 55 Lexington Avenue, entrance on 25th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues).

In the wake of recent #MeToo headline events redefining gender roles (particularly for women) and issues of consent, PIZZA MAN by Darlene Craviotto, which debuted in 1982, seems timelier than ever. While statistics are only quoted once in the play with Newsweek saying 'a rape is committed every 7 seconds,' the United States Department of Justice research claims about 20 million out of 112 million women (18.0%) in the United States have been raped during their lifetime, with only 16% of all rapes reported to law enforcement. No doubt these rapes were committed almost exclusively by men. But is it possible for a woman to rape a man? Such is the question asked during PIZZA MAN.

Today the shortlist for the Total Theatre Awards 2018 was announced. From the shortlist announced today, a total of seven awards will be awarded across five categories: "Physical & Visual Theatre"; "Innovation, Experimentation & Playing with Form"; "Emerging"; "Circus"; and "Dance".

Zach Wyatt will star as Anthony alongside previously announced Maisie Williams as Caroline in the UK premiere of Lauren Gunderson's I and You, which will be directed by Artistic Director Edward Hall on the Main Stage. Richard Molloy's Every Day I Make Greatness Happen, winner of the Nick Darke Award in 2017, will receive its world premiere Downstairs in September, and will star Sofia Barclay, Moe Bar-El, Jon Foster, Susan Stanley and Josh Zare.

WICKED, the "gravity-defying Wizard of Oz prequel" (Time Out) that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, will tonight (Thursday 9 August 2018) play its landmark 5000th performance at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre.
