Seattle Women's Chorus to Take Audiences Back in Time with CAMP

Seattle Women's Chorus (SWC) takes audiences on a hilarious romp back in time to the trials and trails of summer camp adventures. CAMP presents a collection of songs certain to stir up memories of bonfires, new friendships and that first taste of freedom. Memories of mosquitos, fights, and those oh-so awkward showers may also pop into mind. Relive it all, from the safe temperature-controlled, bug-free Cornish Playhouse, February 26 through 28, 2016.

Songs include Carole King's "You've Got a Friend," "For Good" from Wicked, and a campfire medley that harkens back to the innocent days when camp crushes, scoring the winning point, and handling heartbreak was top priority. Seattle's own outrageous comedy duo, Dos Fallopia (Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt), join the women as featured guests. Together with SWC's hilarious pop ensemble,Sensible Shoes, Dos Fallopia adds a unique dose of humor to the unavoidable summertime struggles of getting lost, growing up, and finding ourselves.

Artistic Director Dennis Coleman and Associate Artistic Director Eric Lane Barnes conduct the women through a repertoire of songs including: Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)," "Summerfling" by k.d. lang, and "Everything is Awesome" from the Lego movie. Four local organizations will be recognized during the performance for the diverse and unique ways they support youth and the impact summer camp experiences provide. Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Treehouse, Camp Ten Trees and Camp Nor'wester will all have information available in the lobby during the performances.

RentonPreview tickets ($10 each) are available for the February 20th concert at 7:00pm, located at theRenton IKEA Performing Arts Center. About Dos Fallopia - Performing together since 1990, Dos Fallopia is outrageous, irreverent and eerily similar to Carol Burnett on steroids. The duo is best known for their long-running Seattle holiday sketch romp, Ham for the Holidays. The two have also penned more than 30 full-length plays and have toured their sold-out stage shows, Déjà Poo, Pretty Girls, Not Too Bright, and Twin Sisters of Different Cul-de-sacs in theaters in London, New York, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, Seattle, Minneapolis, and Indianapolis. They have headlined the Michigan, West Coast, and National Women's Music Festivals, and the Vancouver Comedy Festival, along with Bumbershoot and Folklife. They have released one CD and two DVDs.

The two Fallopians also have busy solo lives. Koch has 4 solo CDs, is an alumna of cult quartet Venus Envy ("I'll Be a Homo for Xmas"), and has shared the stage with Steve Martin, the Indigo Girls, Janis Ian, and Kate Clinton. She composed the Off-Broadway musical, 27 Rue de Fleurus, and had one of her songs sampled by Jay Z. Platt was voted Seattle's best comic nine times, is on the board of Seattle SketchFest, and has opened for Jay Leno and Cyndi Lauper.
