Man Alone Productions Renamed MAP Theatre
MAP Theatre, formerly Man Alone Productions (the name originally inspired by a line from the film classic, Rebel Without A Cause), has updated their name, logo, and refined their vision for theatre.MAP THEATRE'S MISSION-
MAP Theatre is Brandon Ryan (Artistic Director) and Peggy Gannon (Managing Director). We are a nomadic, independent and not-for-profit producing company with strong ties and deep roots in the Seattle community. We favor local work and comedy that hurts a bit. We find strength and satisfaction in a highly collaborative process with all team members at the table. MAP's goal is always to relish the creative journey from process to product and continuously push the boundaries of traditional theatre by busting the stereotypes of what theatre is for. With that always in mind, MAP actively strives to reduce the barriers to live theatre.MAP THEATRE'S VISION-
MAP Theatre has boldly chosen to move to a completely pay-what-you-can ticketing model and strives to reduce (and in most cases eliminate) ticketing "convenience" fees. When necessary, MAP Theatre will absorb those costs internally.
Brandon Ryan (Artistic Director) was previously the co-founder and artistic director of the award winning fringe theatre company, Absurd Reality Theatre (NW Source "Best Local Fringe Theatre Company" in 2006 and 2007). Their production of Guardians was recognized by The Sunbreak as "one of the most unforgettable plays of the year" of 2008. Ryan is also a prolific and talented actor (Members' Voice choice as nominee for "Outstanding Actor" for the inaugural Gregory Awards in 2009 produced by Theatre Puget Sound; 2009 Seattle Times Footlight Awards for "Bravura Acting"), and has recently performed with such highly visible Seattle groups like Shakespeare Company, Theater Schmeater, and Secondstory Rep.
Peggy Gannon (Managing Director) has been a Seattle theatre artist for 20 years as an actor, director, and producer. She co-founded and was the Managing Director of the popular and critically acclaimed sketch group Bald Faced Lie (BFL) from 1995-2005, recognized nationally and internationally. From 2003-2009, Gannon was on the producing steering committee of 14/48: The World's Quickest Theatre Festival (now in its 12th year). She is a 14/48 Mazen Award recipient, rewarded to veteran participants of 14/48 for their contribution to the spirit of risk taking and camaraderie. Around town, Gannon has recently worked at the Seattle Rep, ArtsWest and Theater Schmeater, among others.
