Join BPA this March for Lauren Gunderson's THE REVOLUTIONISTS, a bold, brave and blisteringly funny new work about feminism, legacy and standing up for one's beliefs. Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris.

Kate Carruthers directs this grand and dream-tweaked comedy about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It's a true story. Or total fiction. Or a play about a play. Or a raucous resurrection...that ends in a song and a scaffold.

The star-studded, four-member cast features newcomers Meg Wolf as OLYMPE DEGOUGES, Kerrie Thornton as MARIANNE ANGELLE, Callie Turner as Charlotte Corday, and beloved BPA veteran Justine Stillwell (Xanadu, Hair) as MARIE ANTOINETTE.

BPA has been Director Kate Carruther's haven and playground since she came to the Island in 1982. Among her directing credits here are Building the Wall, August: Osage County, Amadeus, Snow Falling on Cedars, The Kentucky Cycle, Distracted, Private Eyes, Arcadia, The Grapes of Wrath, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, More Fun Than Bowling, Anton in Show Business, Art, and The Philadelphia Story. As part of BPA's Bard at Bloedel series, Kate directed Much Ado About Nothing in July 2016 and Romeo & Juliet in July 2018.
