Midsummer! is a modern verse translation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream adapted by Tony Award-winning writer Jeff Whitty and directed by Drama Desk nominee Kim Weild. The 90-minute production blends Appalachian folk and house music, queer liberation, and Pittsburgh's industrial aesthetic, performed by a cast and creative team of Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama artists. The cast includes Celia Evans, Christian Trimmingham, Elijah Strain, Jakai-Nyasia Norfleet, Logan Yao, Moyo Ifafore, Rusty Daniel, Siahvash Marshall, Suri Noelle, and Von Markarian. These Pittsburgh performances serve as exclusive previews before the production's U.K. premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
